Black Panther and Kamandi in: "The Apes of Wrath!"

It looks like movement is being made on the Black Panther sequel.  Rumors say that by that film's end we may have two new faces under the Black Panther mask - Shuri and M'Baku.  T'Challa will reportedly die at the beginning of the movie, setting events into motion and hopefully Marvel will find a tasteful way to present that. I did appreciate the all-Chadwick Boseman Marvel title sequence that was released a few days ago, that was a nice tribute.

These two heroes first crossed paths in STF #1471...

  1. At first look I thought does the Grey Gargoyle have a new costume? oh, no cape.
I don't think the meaning of looking back with 20 20 hindsight is ever gonna feel the same again.
Billion dollar box office? What's that? World Wide premiere in your living room.

  2. Two great covers (I followed the link to the earlier one which is a standout). Plus another creaky pun title that tickles my funny bone - how about The Apes of Wrath face off against your Wraiths of Khan? Khan you do it Ross?

  3. Marvel launches their animated TV series, What If?, on Disney+ next year. Do you happen to know who they are going to hire in order to replace Chadwick Boseman as the voice of T'Challa?

  4. @Davejonz: "Get Smart" once did an episode with that title. But, I think's it long since entered the public domain.

  5. Who's the ape?
Member of a boy band since he has a crew cut and gloves and practicing his one hit wonder.

  7. Ross, I echo the accolades on this cover. T'Challa looks ready to rescue Kamandi from this predicament.

As for Black Panther II, things may be complicated by the sudden controversy that hit Letitia Wright yesterday over tweets she posted regarding COVID vaccinations and QAnon. Hopefully (for the sake of the movie, if nothing else) she'll be able to smooth things over before Disney decides that they no longer require her services.

@Anon@8:44: No, unless something's happened that I don't know about, nothing about "Get Smart" has entered the public domain.

  8. Not that it matters in this context but you can't copyright titles. For instance there are two excellent SF novels called "Millennium". One by John Varley, one by the recently deceased Ben Bova.

  9. Copyright; trademark; patent. They're just like wrestler/actor/politician. Three different names for the same thing (as far as I'm permanently concerned)!

  13. On a somewhat related side note: has Kamandi ever encountered anybody from POTA '68?

  14. @Anon1029: such a crossover would be "Taylor-made."
