I love all the enthusiasm that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has for the in-development Black Adam movie, but one thing seems off to me. Johnson looks great in the Black Adam costume in the various promotional images that I have seen - except that for some reason he's bald! I'm not sure why they wouldn't give him the traditional widow's peak hairdo from the comics. Having Johnson remain bald for the role just makes him look like all the other characters he's played recently, it's an odd decision to me.
Since Billy has the traditional super strength, super speed (of sorts), flight, stamina, and intelligence, Black Adam's gifts should be similar even if they're from other gods. Victor may have inter dimensional sciences with some magic under his belt, but I think I would go with Adam.
ReplyDeleteNow, if you put Adam against Galactus, there's no telling who'd win.
Well, I don't know if he's the _lesser_ of two evils! But, I'll still vote for Doc Doom to win. I mean, with that aforementioned expertise at combining sorcery and super-science, I have no doubt he'd be able to whip up a "Black Adam-smasher" in no time.

I think you're right about this story being "soul-searing action all the way" -- once these two came face to face, the fighting wouldn't stop until the penultimate page. Even so, I think I'd go with Tobor; even adding the Latverian Armed Forces, Adam would prevail unless Doom tried some on-the-spot diplomacy (which he probably would).
ReplyDeleteAs for the hair, if enough people comment on it, Dwayne may relent and wear a wig for this one.
What if Galactus was in the extra-temporal location of the Rock of Eternity?
ReplyDeleteThe Rock wear a wig as Black Adam? I think that's what this epic battle is really all about. BA's magical powers have told him Victor's secret: yes, that's right - beneath that metal visor he's going Lex-Luthor bald! BA's aim is to rip that mask right off and expose that shiny Von Doom pate to the world.
ReplyDeleteThis issue would be a great continuation of STF #534 that featured Black Adam and Sub-Mariner as battling brothers given Namor's alliance/enmity with Doctor Doom from their Super-Villain Team-Up days. It could be an all-out battle royale, or the brothers could team up against Doom, or Doom could persuade Black Adam to join him against the Monarch of Atlantis. Imperius Rex!
ReplyDeleteI'm with @dsnokc - separated at birth twins Namor and Adam (plus Subby's, co-monarch, Aquaman) against Doctor Doom and the villainous allies he'd no doubt need. Now who could the good doctor recruit?
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's about time for World War STF: Doom, Namor, Adam, Aquaman, T'Challa, maybe even Travis Morgan and possibly Calvin Ellis. (It might make a decent 100-page Special, especially if others can add to that list.)
ReplyDelete@Davejonz: maybe Rock could wear a Moe Howard-style wig and Vulcan-style prosthetic ears. As the Immortal Bard of Avon might've said...

Perhaps some early planning for issue 3200? What is that, January 20th or so? Plenty of time to plan for a STF World War!
Or so, yeah.
