Has anyone had a chance to listen to the recently produced Sandman Audio Drama? I've heard some other DC Comics audio dramas before like Kingdom Come and Death and Return of Superman, and I was impressed with how well they were done. This one seems to have an impressive cast, including Kat Dennings as Death, James MacAvoy as Dream, Taron Edgerton as Constantine, Andy Serkis as Mattherw and Neil Gaiman himself as the narrator. I'm going to have to get a copy to listen to at night.
My first thought (and I'm the very first thinker, here, today) was that this would be a worthy sequel to STF #3071. Then, I realized...
ReplyDelete"Holy Crap! Darkseid and Thanos are starting to look alike to me!"
That being said, a genuine sequel featuring Thanos and Dream's twin sister would not be regarded as unsuitable.*
*At least, not by me.
Death is Dream's older sister
ReplyDeleteThey look the same age to me. ;-)
ReplyDeleteThis is a great cover! Thanks, Ross.
ReplyDeleteTo answer your question: I got it through my Audible subscription as soon as it came out. Very faithful, and with Neil acting as both executive producer AND narrator, that was expected. The mp3/CD version is supposed to be available for purchase now.
ReplyDeleteIt contains very faithful acting of the first 3 Sandman collections, but this, just like the book is NOT recommended for younger audiences. The "24 Hours" chapter especially is not for kids.
From the reported sales, it looks like a very good chance that the ENTIRE series will also be produced.
We really need a meeting of Death and Death (this character and the Marvel counterpart who is Thanos' love interest). Maybe for Halloween, or the Day of the Dead?
ReplyDeleteDoes each universe have it's own Heaven and Hell or are they all located together in one form?
ReplyDeleteAlso, if something like Flashpoint happens does a soul in Heaven or Hell drops out of there and goes back to living if the person didn't die in the new timeline?
2Bob & Ross: how about a three-for-all between those two and Lady Death from Chaos!/Dynamite?
ReplyDelete@Anon@7:33: There are enough personages of Death that Ross could practically make a team of them. Terry Pratchett's Discworld has its own; there's one on TV's Supernatural who's made an appearance or two in the comic; and there's been a comic-book adaptation of Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey. Even Earthworm Jim has encountered Death once or twice. And those are just the ones that I know of personally!
ReplyDelete@Bob: maybe he should! He could call the assemblage...
ReplyDelete"The D-Team!"
Let's not forget Travis Morgan's metaphysical girl friend from THE WARLORD by Mike Grell. Plus the black trench-coated Reapers from CHARMED: TOS.
ReplyDeleteCan they handle the teddy bears?
