So far we have seen a couple of fleeting scenes of Solomon Grundy on Stargirl. He looks really cool, even if you have to freeze frame the screen just to get a look at him. I am hoping that we will eventually get a proper scene featuring him in all of is undead glory. I realize the CGI isn't cheap, but if they can do it for King Shark on The Flash, they should be able to do it for this show.
I wouldn't get your hopes up, Ross. :-(
ReplyDeleteOn the upside? LOVE TODAY'S TITLE! :-)
I kind of get the feeling that Grundy is being brought in horror-movie style, where we get bits of what he can do here and there before he's brought out in his full horrific glory. Stargirl is a fairly effects-laden show, after all, right on par with The Flash, and they're proud of it -- just look at how much effort is being put into making the Cosmic Staff into its own character!
ReplyDeletePersonally, I'm wondering if and when Beth Chapel is ever going to get some Doctor Mid-Nite Blackout Bombs. I'm patient for her to get the updated costume and corrected spelling, figuring that'll probably happen for Season 2, but the Blackout Bombs are a central part of all three versions of the character in the comics.
(I'm also wondering if and when Beth is ever going to show up on this blog! Maybe she can have a date with Matt Murdock or something.)
PS: I concur with Cary about today's title.
I Don't know which I prefer more, the execution or the concept. Fantastic.
ReplyDeleteIt would be awesome to see Deadpool accepting a contract on the protagonists of the ‘Lovestruck’ app ... and getting his butt handed to him by the love interests!
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of STARGIRL, I wonder what it would take to get her newly reformed JSA to crossover with the recently cancelled RUNAWAYS... Probably some rivalry between Morgan leFey and the Wizard.
ReplyDeleteGiven that the Wizard was an ISA member that needed very little CGI, I was surprised that he was the one first killed off. Although I must admit that in the one or two shots of him in the JSA death melee his top hat costume was undeniably dorky. I'm assuming the ISA recovered his wand when his wife was murdered off-screen, but since the TPB seem to be taking their time introducing full-blown magic (GL's StarHeart-powered lantern, Dr. Fate, the Thunderbolt) into this universe, we probably won't see it again until Season 2 or beyond.

DeleteJust thought of two ideas:
ReplyDeleteAquaman and Groot : could they communicate telepathically?
Black Panther and Donald Duck:Waaaak-anda
Or Huey, Dewey and Louie meet the Super Sons
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure the X-Men here were drawn by Barry Smith.
ReplyDeleteAlso, since Michael Keaton is making the rounds, may I suggest Batman and Beetlejuice?
....and throw into the mix the Michael Keaton version of The Vulture for a "live action" cover extra ordinary, Ross....
ReplyDeleteWait? Wait! There's more. We can rate your planned payments for as long as you want to pay us AND We'll let you pay us as long as we can. We promise. We will NEVER insult your money.
ReplyDeleteWe not only have Grundy as our company mascot, he's also our blueprint to success.
I wonder if we will still see
ReplyDeletethe Beast (X-Men) and the Beast Boy/Changeling (Teen Titans) together ...
maybe even with or against ...
the Beast (Disney's Beauty and the Beast) controled by the Beast Man (He-Man and the Masters of the Universe) ... lol
2 days left for 3,000 covers!
I like Scarab's idea, but Jay's right; the Wizard probably won't be recast anytime soon, and might wind up being a kid if/when they do introduce a new wand wielder. Icicle and Dragon King seem to be the biggest big bads on STARGIRL; I could see one or both of them wanting to trick the JSA into fighting the Runaways.
ReplyDeletePaganini, or vs. King Kull, last of the beastmen
ReplyDelete@Horsefeathers: in the immortal words of the late, great Soupy Sales...
ReplyDelete"Last, but not least? If, for any reason, you are dissatisfied with your purchase, simply return us the unused portion of the merchandise, and we'll gladly refund you the unused portion of your money!"
@Paganini & Anonymous934: Or King Kull, last of the Beastmen, vs. Conan the Barbarian!
ReplyDelete@MHS & jack-el: Been there, done that -- though once new photos of Michael as Batman surface, it might be worth revisiting for a sequel!
ReplyDeleteThe X-Men never made any money saving the world from Solomon Grundy!
ReplyDeleteBob, if i may be so informal, i do no know what MHS was suggesting but i was hope for a Keaton tribute of Batman, Vulture and Beetlejuice all on the same cover, which has not been done.... yet....
ReplyDelete@Isaac: moral of the story? All that glitters ain't Cyrus Gold.
