If the MCU is indeed building to the introduction of Galactus, they have to bring in The Silver Surfer at some point. But what is the best way to go about that? Do we want a stand-alone Silver Surfer movie, telling the story of Norrin Radd's transformation into the Sentinel of the Spaceways? Or would we like him to show up in another movie? Since namor seems to be on track to make his MCU debut first, perhaps he can get together with Dr. Strange and the Hulk for a Defenders movie that will center around the Surfer's arrival.
What a radd icle idea!
ReplyDeleteFirst off, absolutely brilliant idea! But perfect execution too. The Surfer looks so glum: what is going to happen to my precious surfboard? I don't like the gleeful look on that irresponsible girl's face!
ReplyDeleteAny chance we could see what Kara gets up to with the board? Maybe someone else could borrow it from her...?
Re: today's cover? I'd prefer a sequel showing just what bet Supergirl is referring to (and which Norrin Radd evidently lost).
ReplyDeleteRe: a Defenders feature film? That'd be an awesome way to introduce the Phase Five movies! Dr. Strange seeking out Prince Namor's help with the Nameless One. The Hulk being inadvertently sent to Doc's rescue by the Crawler-in-Darkness (a.k.a. the original "Night-Crawler"). Followed by the trio discovering the Silver Surfer aiding a bunch of yeti in a certain Himalayan valley.
In short? The first trilogy of Phase 5, right there.
Even better? All the Phase 5 flicks that followed could lead up to a trilogy dramatizing the now-classic "Avengers/Defenders War" (w/special guest-villains Loki and Dormammu)!
ReplyDeleteI fully agree with Dave here: dead-on execution. The art styles are just different enough to not make this look like a unit piece, but I don't care; you nailed this one. How you found three such perfectly-aligned images for this cover is simply astounding. Even the background seems just right.
ReplyDeleteAs for Silver Surfer in the MCU, I think we'll probably first see him in a post-credits scene in either Thor: Love and Thunder, Captain Marvel 2, or (most likely of these) Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3. His first active role would then come in a film yet to be formally announced; I'd guess it to be Nova.
As for a proper MCU Defenders, don't forget Valkyrie! She can join Banner, Strange, and Namor for an initial Defenders film; then, after Galactus has been driven off, Norrin can join them for the second go-round.
For playing Galactus, I nominate Djimon Hounshou. He's played everything else. (Otherwise, they'd have find some guy named Chris.)
@Horsefeathers: Oddly, it wasn't until your post that I made that connection with the name Radd.
Bob, the Alan Weiss Surfboard wasn't perfectly positioned, I had to use the PS skew and distort tools to get it just right.
ReplyDeleteOkay, they're almost perfectly aligned. It's still an awesome bit of work.
ReplyDelete?? Since Kara flies, why would the board be different than her just moving herself? It would be like Aquaman getting a big thrill from surfing.
ReplyDeleteGreat art, but how could she get a thrill ?
That cosmic board can go further and faster than even a Kryptonian can.
ReplyDeleteNice to know Danvers won't be bored. She only flies 1st class, cookie included.
ReplyDeleteWhat's next for a cover plot?;Ash Ketchem managing to teach Pikachu how to microwave food, only to have the primary adult characters of "The Flintstones" have greedy eyes on him (as a core part of a microwave oven (like dragons were used as fire producing gadget parts), like Team Rocket? XD!
ReplyDelete@Horsefeathers:
ReplyDelete"Did someone say 'cookie?' Where, where! Yummmmmmmmmmmmm!"
---Cookie Monster shortly before meeting Yoda who asks...
"Tell me, can you, how to Sesame Street I may get?"
@Anon 11:27 AM: BTW< does Cookie Monster like pizza?; he eats paper cookie shapes(?).
ReplyDeleteHe might like pre-frozen pizza. That often tastes like paper!
