Much like the concerns about Robert Pattinson's physique for his upcoming role as Batman, here has been some online discussion about Chadwick Boseman's current appearance. Recent social media posts have shown him to having apparently lost weight and looking quite different than he did as the Black Panther. Maybe it's for another role, or maybe that's just his normal look between projects. Given the delays in Hollywood filming there's probably plenty of time to work out and bulk up before shooting on the sequel begins, so I don't think there's much cause for alarm at this point.
I would prefer BANE vs. VENOM.
ReplyDeleteIt would be more accurate TOM and it would not be HARDY to understand.
Intentional pun and tip. lol
2 B or not 2 B, that has been their question.
ReplyDeleteAt a BILLION dollars made at the box office, they will do whatever they feel they want. Gym work, muscle suit or CGI be damned, they can't take a chance at how fast they can get back to making a billion dollar movie again.
That's THEIR bane.
In the immortal words of Bugs Bunny, Mr. Bane: "You don't know him very well. Do you?"
ReplyDeleteAnd with regard to Mr. Boseman's physique (or alleged lack thereof)? Shakespeare probably said it best: "Much ado about nothing."
ReplyDeleteI agree with both of Cary's remarks.
ReplyDeleteFor the first, Black Panther lacks one of Batman's few real weaknesses: a "go it alone" attitude. Sure, Batman's had his series of Robins, but his most recent incarnations -- particularly around the time of the Knightfall story arc -- have been very "my way or the highway" in outlook, with no regrets if the latter was chosen. Black Panther, on the other hand, is a Head of State, and a good one.
For the second, my understanding about Chad's physique is that it was for another role, in a film whose production was interrupted by the COVID-19 shutdown. Given that Black Panther 2 won't start shooting until some time next year, I think he'll be fine.
I'm also starting to find some of these "versus" match-ups more interesting, and a few are coming to mind. Spawn vs. Bane might make for an interesting visual. For the incongruity of it, maybe Spider-Ham vs. Darkseid. And maybe the Strange Brothers can land on the Planet of the apes.
By the way, the website 'Heroic Hollywood' yesterday published an article about plans for a possible Bane stand-alone film. Read here. (secure link)
ReplyDeleteStill on the topic of my initial comment (Bane vs. Venom)...
ReplyDeleteHow about a slightly different team cover:
- Batman, Bane and Joker vs. Vulture, Venom and Morbius
... It may include - or be apart ...
- Catwoman vs. Wasp and/or Storm.
There are still suggestions as to additional stories:
- Jonah Hex and/or vs. Cable vs. Thanos
- Green Lantern vs. Deadpool
- Fandral vs. Shazam!
The image of a special commemorative edition cover - like #3100 - with multiple stories comes to my mind.
Note:
- I know we already had the cover photo of Batman vs. Vulture (#2889 of 11 March 2020), but here I suggest with its classic comic book versions.
- I didn't quote Daredevil vs. Batman because we already had this meeting in issues:
#1846 of May 3, 2017;
#1584 of August 14, 2016;
#1114 of May 2, 2015;
in the former 'The Brave and The Bold' of August 10, 2011; and of April 12, 2010.
what would you think of Black Lightning vs Electro? An a.c. or dc cover?
ReplyDelete@Comment Deleted could not have... Electro already faces Black Lightning on #543 of October 8, 2013.
ReplyDeleteThe idea above - in case it was not clear - are encounters between DC and Marvel characters that were played in cinema by the same actor/actress. Therefore, it would not apply to the 'Electro vs. Black Lightning'.
In that case, how about Lando meeting Two-Face, or Mr. Freeze vs. the Terminator?
ReplyDelete@Comment Delete Ed: if you truly want Ross to depict an A.C. cover, have Electro go up against Dinah Morisi of FemForce! ;-)
ReplyDeleteWOW. According to a youtuber, Batwoman is not only getting a new actress for the lead, but she will be playing a brand new character unrelated to the Waynes. How she gets the costume may be one thing, how she gets the cave ?? Unknown. New everything?
ReplyDeleteConsidering all the exposure Bane has gotten, I have got as tired of him as many have of the Joker or Riddler. Gotham Girl became more powerful than him on a variation of the same material that gives Bane his 'now limited by comparison' Super strength.
But against the Vibranium that his serum is going to go against, he shouldn't last long if he just makes directs attacks and doesn't try to bury Panther instead.
gents; ac = alternating current while dc = direct current (electric currents).
ReplyDeleteshocking you weren't aware of that. ')
It strikes me that the Cable/Jonah Hex match-up would be especially fitting, as Cable is a man from the future and Hex spent some time in the future. That might seem confusing, but it could all be sorted out with a little help from the MiB's Agent Kay.
ReplyDelete@Comment Delete Ed: I was aware! I just have an incurable weakness for re-volt-ing puns.
ReplyDelete@Cary: Grrrrrrroooooooooooan!
