Mickey Mouse and Batman

It's been fun checking out some of the classic cartoon shorts on Disney+.  They must have made an impact on me as a kid because  even though I haven't seen some of them for 45 years or longer, the memories of seeing them for the first time come flooding back when I watch them anew.

Batman last tangled with The Beagle Boys in STF #2901...

I've got that treasury sized issue the day it came out.

  2. Who'd put a price on Mickey's head? The feline felon called Black Pete? One of Scrooge McDuck's business rivals? Personally, I think it's...

    ...Bizarro Mighty Mouse!*

    1. There's only one character who would want Mickey Mouse dead. It would be the one who was the most popular csrtoom character before Mickey came along and stole his design. No, not Oswald the Lucky Rabbit (who also ripped off the character). The one who wants Mickey dead is Felix the Cat!

  3. I could see the Phantom Blot pulling the strings behind the scenes. I always enjoyed reading those old Mickey stories where he would confront that nefarious foe.

  4. Ooooh. Idea. Mighty Mouse joins the Legion of Super Pets.

  5. This is one of those high-contrast pairings that could really work, and having Batman step in to help against the Beagle Boys is an interesting thread. Still, I'm on the fence on the use of an Aragones drawing of him for this cover; it makes him the silliest-looking figure of the bunch, which seems just wrong for Batman. Using a figure from a 60s comic, as you did in #2901, would've worked better, at least in my opinion.

That said, I recognize what a challenge this cover had to have been; one can't always find images that flow perfectly, especially with a high-contrast pairing. The concept here is wonderful, and worth sacrificing perfection of imagery for.

For another high-contrast pairing, perhaps Freakazoid and Spawn... though I doubt you'll ever match the utter perfection of The Punisher vs. Ambush Bug!

  6. Personally I think that Sergio Aragones' art meshes with the Disney characters quite well. Then again, I'm all for any Disney crossovers lol

  7. @Carycomic: I've got a better idea. How about Mighty Mouse VS. Bizarro?

  8. That it included Scrooge McDuck as a guest star was a no brainer. His interaction with Bruce Wayne was "priceless". The chapter, The Bat strikes at "know one to take one" was hilarious. Who would have guessed he could do that? 11 stars out of 10.

  11. @anonymous: Do you think Super Goof and the Blue Falcon will be equally jealous?
