I had hoped that the introduction of Agent Jimmy Woo in the MCU would lead to the formation of Agents of Atlas down the line. The character, as played by Randall Park, has been used for comic relief so far though, so I don't know if that will be the case. Still, I'd like to see either the original team or its newer incarnation eventually show up.
3 teams and the cover doesn't look packed. Neat
ReplyDeleteI'm unfamiliar with the Agents but they look fun.
this is so very cool....
ReplyDeleteyou must be sure to return to it next year for the second annual team up of the JLA/JSA/AoA....
so cool....
I'd like to see the character of Agent Woo team-up with Shang Chi against the latter's biological father. The Yellow Claw!*
ReplyDelete*Why Marvel simply didn't ret-con those two together, as father-and-son (once they lost licensing rights to Fu Manchu), will always be beyond me.
I like this cover. Reminds me of the Dick Giordano JLA annual team ups and he was my favorite artist on it other than the brief George Perez stint.
ReplyDeleteGiordano didn't pencil any of the team ups although he may have inked a few. I think you're referring to Dick DILLIN who drew many of them.
DeleteAgent Woo has so far only been in Ant-Man films, so to call him "comic relief" may be a bit unfair -- those are superhero comedies, after all. He's also set to appear in WandaVision, so he may be a bit more straightforward there. Even if he's played a bit tongue-in-cheek there, it'll still be quite possible to see the Agents of Atlas in some future project. (They could even take a page from the comics* and set the Atlas in the past, somewhere between Captain Marvel and Iron Man, with the team led by Jimmy Woo, Senior!)
ReplyDelete@Dave: I think that may be in part because the JLA and JSA are all unconscious (except for Superman, who's about to go).
@Cary: I don't know how things are in the comics, but (as you probably but might not know) in the MCU Shang-Chi's father is the Mandarin. That should be quite interesting! (And if Harley Keener takes up the mantle of Iron Man, things gonna get real!)
*Pun not intended, but appreciated.
Jet pack fight! Boba Fett vs Rocketeer.
ReplyDelete@Bob: first I've heard of that. Is it going to be introduced in the Iron Man sequel that introduces the next phase of Avengers flicks?
ReplyDeleteGiven that the JSA operated in the 40's and the JLA in the 60's it seems that having the agents in the mix would cover the 50's as well.
ReplyDelete@Cary: It's going to be introduced in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, which I think is scheduled for late next year. There's no known plans right now for another Iron Man movie; Marvel Phase 4 is being started with Black Widow this fall.
ReplyDeleteI wonder who they'll cast as her husband, the Red Guardian?
ReplyDeleteFantastic cover, Ross. Love it.
ReplyDeleteOne wonders if Dick Dillin was a master of the "marshal" arts?
ReplyDeleteOnly in Dodge City, Kansas. ;-D
