Animal Man Vs. The Lizard

I wasn't crazy about Andrew Garfield's take on Peter Parker and I wish that the Lizard had retained his lab coat look from the comics, but I have to admit that The Amazing Spider-Man had some of the bet fight sequences of all the Wall-Crawler's movies.  One of those battles that took place in the high school also included my favorite Stan Lee cameo.  I loved when he was cleaning up, wearing headphones, oblivious to the chaos unfolding directly behind him.

Yesss, for this tail the scales are balanced.
Maybe the future could have The Lizard meet The Gorn from ST tos.

  2. I saw the salute to Stan Lee, last night, on ABC. A very moving tribute, indeed. I especially loved the clip of his Hitchcockian cameo in CAWS.

"Oh, man! I am SO fired!"

Re: today's cover. Wasn't this somebody's suggestion/Xmas wish, a week or two back?

  3. @Hyram: It'd be more fitting if Liz met the Psions of Vega (who have the same kind of scientific expediency).

  4. @Carycomic: Was Stan Lee on an Empire Flooring commercial? LOL! XD!

  5. Actually, while Tom Holland has personified Peter Parker like no other actor before him, I liked Andrew Garfield's interpretation in at least one aspect: he and Sally Field actually spoke in a New York accent -- and attitude -- which made the setting all the more believable.

As for Stan Lee, that cameo in The Amazing Spider-Man is actually my #3 favorite, and "I am SO fired!" is my #2. My #1 is his appearance as Willie Lumpkin in the first [released] Fantastic Four; that was the first time he appeared as a character he'd actually created for the comics (the only other time was voicing J. Jonah Jameson in the post-credits scene of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse).

@HHH & Cary: I'm just happy that we got to see Man-Bat vs The Lizard back in #2606, based on a suggestion of mine. Those two characters have such a synchronicity that I kind of hope Ross turns it into an ongoing rivalry (though I do understand, Ross, that you have a lot going on here and there might not be room for it).

  7. The Tobey Maguire Spidey will always be my sentimental favorite for the live-action versions. My favorite animated version, of course, is the 1967-9 one (which also includes the world's best "thwips")!

  8. Hey Ross, what about another Lizard and Croc crossover with Stegron for good measure.
Or Deathlok, Deathstroke and/or Deadshot, battle for the bullseye?

  9. Or how about a collection of the loincloth heroes - Conan, Kamandi, Tarzan, Kazar, He-man, or others?

  10. @Isaac: No, that's Adam Warlock...who'd mop the proverbial floor with those cosmic creeps.

  11. @Kerry1966: in other words, sort of a Celebrity "Dead-match?"

  12. Great cover! Interesting selection for a pairing. How about a Dr. Fate and Adam Warlock team-up...?

  13. Why not? They could team up against Wotan and the Man-Beast!
