Space Ghost and Moon Knight

This was a team-up that I decided to feature for one simple reason - I just think that they would look cool together!  I have always found their predominantly white costumes to be striking in animation or on the comics' page.  These same outfits are part of the challenge in faithfully bringing them to live action.  At least we'll get to see how Marvel handles Moon Knight's look when his show begins on Disney Plus.

  1. Two of my favorite! And a live action Space Ghost movie is so needed....

  2. Y. E. S!! Space Ghost, without the flesh colored face,u is what was needed. Originally, his hands were white as if they were in gloves. The band of light reflected on top of his cowl was a great touch for the character that all artists did not maintain. That touch of the Spectre is exactly what has been needed to give him "full effect".

One of the best decisions you've ever made as editor, Ross!
    11 out of 10!!!

  3. Great cover! I’d buy this right now! One of your best...

  4. @jibgriggs2: Would a live-action Scooby Apocalyse (and maybe The Jetsons(2017)) movie be good, too?

  5. @det_Tobor: having watched the original Space Ghost since way back in 1966, I have no complaints with the Caucasian flesh tone. But, I'll concede this much. Having the lower half of his face ethereally shiny as a side-effect of deactivating inviso-power would NOT be deemed, by me, as a stretch too far.

@Ross: I remember a Moon Knight story where Marc Spector went dimension-hopping with a corrupted version of himself that absorbed other MK counterparts. One of them being...MOOOOOOOON GHOOOOOOOST!

  6. I'd bet that Moon Knight's white looks a lot like White Canary's on Legends of Tomorrow -- that kind of dusty shade that makes white almost look like a dark color. Costume designers these days seem to have an aversion to using bright colors -- though when they give in and go ahead with them, the results are usually pretty impressive. A totally stark white will wash out everything else under TV/movie studio lights, but something short of that can be a fine balance. If there's ever a Space Ghost movie, I hope the lead costume designer there realizes that.

I love these team-ups between cosmic and street-level heroes, Ross, and now you've done two in a row. Besides enjoying the contrast just on general principles, it also gives me hope for my proposed Shadow/She-Ra team-up.

Minor thing: I notice the name "Delgado" in the lower right corner, and above it what looks like "Kounszooh." I realize that these are probably artifacts of the cover you took that wall from (probably Moon Knight's), but I'm curious as to why they were there to begin with. (I see neither name in the tags -- though I have a feeling that I'll feel a bit foolish when I learn the answer to at least Delgado.)

  7. Delgado was the colorist on the original image I think. The Other Sig is for Scott Kolins

  8. @del-Tobor and Carycomic: The Mighty Mightor in Future Quest (in the present) was a black boy who found the magic club and became a new incarnation of him; also, maybe a cover could have Skeletor trvel back to Mightor's time and try to foil the creators of Mightor's magic club from surviving to make He-Man's sword.

  9. That's the Space Ghost that needs to team up with the 1939 Bat-Man. This pair would scare the hell out of any crook easily.

  10. @ Carycomic: no disagreement there. What do you think of the yellow translucent cape being rendered white as well? Coming out of inviso-power like that works well for me.

  11. I could see the movie starting with Space Ghost in blinding white, until a civilian asks him to "tone it down a little" and the costume dims to a more camera-friendly off-white for the talking scenes. Then brightens back up when he starts flying and blasting.

  12. @det_Tobor: I don't see why not. I was never a straight-A student in high school science class. But, it occurs to me that the line between transparency and translucence is easily crossable.

  13. Awesome cover! This would make for a great story.

  14. P.S. @ Anon941: I was pleasantly surprised when nobody (= readers in general) made any complaints about an African-American teenager being turned into the semblance of a superheroic Stone Ager. It gave me hope that society's addiction to political correctness might have finally been put on an overdue short leash.

That being said, I have to wonder if Mightor II and Dino-boy could jointly discover that the Ancient Hermit who originally gave Tor that club might have been an elderly, long-retired...CAPTAIN CAAAAAAAAAAAAVE MAAAAAAAAAAN!

  15. P.S. @ Bob: I saw that, too. But, I just assumed it was ancient Egyptian for "Khonsu Was Here."

  16. @Ross: Space Ghost, Moon Knight and the Spectre - early members of the Ghost Squad?

  17. Carycomic: Here's a number: Elroy (Jetson) was here (a play on "Kilroy was here" XD! LOL!

  18. Good one! :-)

Reminds me of the time my younger brother asked me who did the voice-over for Elroy. And I shamelessly replied...

    "D Butler did it!"

  19. "D' stood for "Daws".

  20. Know who you need to round-out this set? 'White Lantern' Batman...
