I have been seeing more and more artwork by Francesco Frankavilla in the past few years, and I am really impressed by it. He has an instantly recognizable style that is as effective in black and white as it is in color, due to his inking skills and mastery of light and shadow. It's a style all his own that still evokes two of my all time favorite comic artists - Alex Toth and Joe Kubert. I first discovered him as a cover artist, but soon learned that his interiors are great as well.
That look on Tornado's face says it all when seeing El Kabong!!! Love it!

ReplyDeleteEither Baba Louie is being held hostage by the ambushers...or he's attending the Democratic National Convention. As the mascot!
ReplyDeleteNow I’d like to see Baba Louie vs. Sgt. Garcia.....
ReplyDeleteIs there a fictional dinosaur (or "dinosaur") named Saurro? XD!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see a followup where either Zorro or El Kabong team up with Darkwing Duck
ReplyDeleteI love this so much that I'm not even going to ask what El Kabong's rope is attached to.
ReplyDeleteIt's a really long rope.
ReplyDeleteBaba Louie is up in the church tower at the other end of the rope!
ReplyDeleteOut of the night, when the full moon is bright, comes a horseman known as
ReplyDeleteEL KABONG!!!
It's a Hanna-Barbera rope. It doesn't need to be attached to anything.
ReplyDeleteOff topic: I just learned that the CW has confirmed an upcoming spinoff series with Tyler Hoechlin as Superman, with Elizabeth Tulloch as Lois Lane and a yet-unannounced young actor as Jon Kent. That might make an appropriate moment for a Superman/Grimm crossover (since Elizabeth was also a featured actress on the latter TV show).
ReplyDeleteAnonymous@8:42 : No, but there is a giant starfish named Starro.
ReplyDeleteZorro vs. Starro? Hmmmmmmm...
Bob, How Grimm can it get?
ReplyDeleteThe Thing on the show fighting any of a number of possibilities, plus... the Grimm Reaper!

@Bob Greenwade: What about the ropes(?) used by Spider-Man and Bartman?
ReplyDeleteI always thought the artificial webbing was just rubber cement mixed with magnetically-guided iron filings.
ReplyDelete@Anon421: That might've been how Mysterio faked _his_ artifical webbing, the first time he impersonated Spidey. But, I think Peter Parker is a little bit more inventive than that!
