Power Man & Iron Fist and Doctor Who

The Netflix Marvel shows ended just when things were getting good.  All the pieces were in place for the Daughters of the Dragon to formally join forces.  Iron Fist and Power Man were both at crossroads, and I was ready for them to get together to form Heroes for Hire.  Alas, it will be a year or two before Marvel can start using them in the MCU.  Hopefully once that time passes, they will find a way to realize the still unfulfilled potential of these characters, either in the movies or on Disney+.

  1. An appropriate team-up! Power Man, Iron Fist, and the "Daleks" all come from #79 of PM and IF's own series, in which they met Alphonse Gamble, a time traveller with a machine that could not only disguise itself as a shop, but was larger on the inside than out. I can't imagine where that idea came from...

  2. As I never got Netflix, I can only hope the Marvel Film versions start from scratch. And, having never read POWER MAN & IRON FIST #79, I'm also assuming that Mr. Green is referencing Dalek pastiches that were probably depicted more as straightforward robots. If this were an actual (as in real-world) crossover, however, I would've had the three of them teaming up against the Autons.

It's kind of second nature for New Yorkers to ignore storefront window mannequins. Even more so than pedestrians passing by a London department store!

  3. Maybe these guys should call the X-Terminators (lol!).

  4. Since the daleks considered their elimination of cybermen as " pest control ", their force fields would make the autons even less of a threat to the daleks. But if you had 1 dalek being threatened by a horde of autons, maybe a different result?

Ross, there's not enough compliments for all the great work you do and the skill and
    imagination you do it with.

I would like to see an Earth 2 version of some of the Marvel characters we know, like Power Fist, Captain Spider (Steve getting bitten by that spider put a whole new spin on his life) and the Scarlet Vision (an android that doesn't believe in magic having it for his existence was almost counterproductive). Earth 2 can be an unusual place.

  5. Yeah yeah. But because medical dramas were going strong for a while, this was a reboot that they considered before coming back with the Who we know.

Introducing Dr Who, Nurse Why, Administrator What, Dentist Where and Intern How. The dream team that finds the story no matter where their traveling clinic takes them.

  6. The Watcher asked The Question "What do you get if you blend Dr Who with the Twilight Zone"? No limits to the stories you can tell.

  7. The general sense I get about the Netflix characters is that, sadly, they're to be recast and rebooted when they're reintroduced into the MCU. I'd love to see Charlie Cox continue as Daredevil (he seemed like a pretty definitive actor for the role); had Sony not cut ties with Disney, Matt Murdock would've been the perfect choice as Peter Parker's defense attorney. I also was looking forward to Luke Cage and Iron Fist resolving their respective crossroads and coming back to form Heroes for Hire (something that could be done on Disney+ if Kevin Feige changes his mind about the above decision). Unfortunately any of this happening (if it ever does) will have to wait for 2022, since the Disney+ schedule is full until then.

PS: Ross, here's a challenge for you. Ambush Bug becomes Captain Universe! (I'd initially thought of The Tick for this, but I don't think that'd be within even your abilities.)

  8. PS @ Horsefeathers: I find it interesting to note that Hu, Watt, Ware, Wynn, and Howe are all legitimate surnames.

    1. So is Wye, as in Dr. Andrea.

      Not sure about wherefore...

  10. @det_Tobor: If the Autons were actually wax-coated Cybermen upgrades, though, the Daleks might wind up being used as floor mops!

  11. In six weeks it will be Halloween; girls better be watching their figure so they'll fit into the costumes depicting eye-candy "chicks" like Sailor Moon, the Sailor Scouts, Wonder Woman, Jill Valentine, Equestria Girls, etc.; JUST KIDDING!

  13. Then, again...

Cue simulated mental image of Sailor Mars pyrokinetically weakening Martian Manhunter on to a fireproof bed. When he demands why she's doing this, she says "I have the hots for you."

    Simulation--mercifully--ends.

And that's the Who's Hu of What's Watt. Remember, there will be a quiz on this Wynn, T.O. Morrow.

Captain Spider (Steve getting bitten by that spider put a whole new spin on his life)

Modern day Captain America getting "The Spider Bite" instead of Peter? How much of a difference could it make to Super-soldier Steve? Maybe enhanced super strength, spider sense and wall crawling?

  18. Ross are you aware that one of YOUR covers is in use on youtube? The one with Dr Strange vs Zatanna, with Super Team Family logo in use? Congratulations!!!

  19. Off topic: I don't know why I never thought of this before.

Now that Evel Knievel has jumped into the Great Beyond--WHAT IF Evel Knievel became Ghost Rider?

  20. I finally thought to look Evel up on this blog, and found that while Ross has teamed them up before, Evel has never become GR.

  21. Det Tobor, yes I actually happened to be watching that video and saw it, I think the creators thought it was a real cover. Anyway, no credit to the blog, so it's not like having it on their video did me any good!

  22. Alas! The greatest heroes are often unsung. :-(

  23. That's 3 comic fans who saw it and are familiar with your work. And the "professional youtube blogger" that had to know of your work to want to find and show it.
Copyrights may have limited them to how much they could do with it, but they USED it. That means they thought it was at professional level of work.
That is worth a permanent spot on your blog.
Besides your fans can appreciate that our good taste in culture is appreciated.:)

  25. Anon, that poses a good question -- Has the Dr. ever come across a reverse Earth? All kinds of bizarre things might happen in a place like that.

  26. I think the closest he ever came to that was the training replica visited by his 3rd self and Sara Jane Smith. The one with all the British-sounding androids. ;-)

  27. You picked the wrong incarnation of the Doctor, I'm afraid - it was the Third Doctor who was the master of Venusian Akaido, deadliest martial art in the universe, and a perfect fit with a martial arts oriented team.

  28. The Valyard versus his present-day female counterpart has never been done. Ross could be the first!
