Batman and Groot

I am hoping that we hear some more news about who will be joining Robert Pattinson in the cast when he takes over as Batman.  With Commissioner Gordon, Alfred and at least five villains in the mix, there are plenty of roles to be filled.  One rumor I have heard is John David Washington for Two-Face, but nothing concrete yet.  Ralph Fiennes has expressed interest in playing Alfred, but I am not sure if anything has come of that either.

  1. Awesome match up. Beautiful blending of images too. Has Groot encountered Swamp Thing yet?

  2. The Ivy League! Brilliant. Glad to see Batman back in a starring role. Great look to the cover.

  3. I had heard Pierce Brosnan as Alfred...

  4. I'm mildly surprised you didn't call it "The Groot of Evil."

A few shows have said that some actresses want a chance to play Alfred since it's a non action part.

Since this involves Poison Ivy isn't it still just the bush league? But it is a great blend of images.

  7. I agree about the blending of images here. It's virtually seamless; I wouldn't be able to tell that it's a blend if I didn't know to look for it, and at that it isn't easy.

@Cary: That title may yet come to pass, though probably with a villain that has a corrupting influence rather than mind control. Trigon is a possibility.

@Comment Deleted: Poison Ivy would be the Ivy League; for the Bush League, Bushroot would be the villain involved. And now that I mention it, those two villains might be appropriate (especially if it's on Earth Day) for a re-teaming of Batman and Darkwing Duck.

  8. Just noticed that you've never done a Green Hornet/Lone Ranger team up, even though you've done other cross-time relatives (like Steve Rogers/Buck Rogers). Britt Reid and John Reid. Or what about a Lone Ranger/Phantom team up with their horses?

  9. Reg, I believe that Green Hornet and Lone Ranger teamed up for real in a mini-series from Dynamite in 2016.

  10. Green Hornet and Lone Ranger were created in a shared universe, by Fran Striker at WXYZ back in the 30s. In the 40s it was revealed that the Ranger's nephew Dan Reid was Britt Reid's father. (On the radio, when this was revealed by the elderly Dan to his son, the William Tell overturn played in the background.) So such a pairing is beyond the purview of this blog, which focuses on cross-company teamups that never happened.

  11. Dr. OTR, yes, I get what the focus of this blog is, but since The Phantom has shown up here so many times, and with some non-DC and non-Marvel superheroes (Phantom/Mars Attacks; Phantom/Dick Tracy; etc.), I thought I'd toss out another few pairings.

  12. While I'm at it...Timber Wolf (DC) and Man-Wolf (Marvel). The Phantom and Phantom Girl. Phantom Lady and Phantom Girl! Colossal Boy and Black Goliath (lol, Ok, I'll stop now...)

  13. @Comment semi-deleted: In that case, how about actress Alfre Woodard as "Alfre Pennyworth?"

    @ Reg Aubry
The Phantom, Phantom Girl and Phantom Lady coming out of the Phantom Cruiser as it leaves the Phantom Zone sounds like a winner to me, but would it really have a ghost of a chance of happening? I do like your spirit though.

  17. @my proud namesake: I just did. He said: "Certainly! Why not? If Harvey Dent can go from African-American to semi-lobster-red Caucasian with unquestioning acceptance...?"

  19. I'd like to see Alfred Pennyworth romance Mary Worth. And Joe Giella has drawn both of them...
