Black Lightning and Moon Knight

Moon Knight coming to Disney+ has me very excited and more than anything else will convince me to get a subscription.  There are still a lot of questions though.  With so many comics to choose from, which version of the character will we see?  Will he have the classic superhero suit or the more modern take with the white three piece suit?  And what of casting?  I've heard that they want a Jewish actor in the role and names like Shie LeBoeuf  and Andrew Garfield have been mentioned.  Hmmm, I'm not to sure about either of those choices.  Whoever they go with, it will be a very meaty role, considering the multiple personality angle.

  1. Another great cover. Had I seen this while scrolling through early '80s covers, I wouldn't have even questioned that it was real. It works that well.

  2. Another amazing cover, and this is another story I'd love to write, I can already 'see' the story in my mind.

  3. In this time of homogenized families, how are you going to tell who's not Jewish? Or part Jewish?

It was a dark and stormy Knight. The reign howled. There was a sound of screams coming
from below. The Moon didn't shed much light but then Lightning flashed everywhere. No one was safe in that Storm.
Only the Weather Wizard knew for sure what the outcome would be. (He thought.) He was proven to be wrong.

  5. I remember when Rex Smith played Matt Murdock on NBC's "Trial of the Incredible Hulk." The Daredevil costume designed for him made him look more like the Shroud sans cape!

Let's hope the costume designers for "Moon Knight The Series" don't go the same route.

  6. Hopefully the producers of the Moon Knight show will take a cue from the Netflix series and give us both. Remember, we got "traditional costume" Easter eggs for Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Patsy Walker; the same trend would have Moon Knight try the one shown here, but ultimately go with the suit.

As for the part being a "meaty" role, look at the history of multiple personalities on TV: Toni Collette, the lead on United States of Tara, was nominated for two Emmys, winning once, and did the same with the Golden Globes, plus a nomination for a SAG award. Playing multiple roles on Orphan Black (a different but very similar challenge than DID), Tatiana Maslany won one of three Emmy nominations; got a nomination each for a Golden Globe, a People's Choice Award, and a SAG Award; and won or was nominated for several other awards. So it's a challenge, yes, but if the actor is up to the challenge it can be quite the awards magnet.

Hm... I could probably deal with Shia LaBeouf in the role on general principles, but I'm not sure how well he'd handle the DID aspect of things. Andrew Garfield, possibly. How about David Mazouz?

  7. Shia L. is playing a Damsel-In-Distress???

  8. DID = Dissociative Identity Disorder (in this context). It's what used to be called Multiple Personality Disorder (or sometimes, mistakenly, schizophrenia).

  10. How about Moon Knight and Connor Hawke. Also Shang-Chi, Master of Kung Fu vs Lady Shiva.

  11. @Daviticus: maybe he meant "Rayne howled." As in, Blood Rayne! She who was like the kick-butt love child of Xena and Blade?

It was Queen (Mary) from the Royal Flush gang, who also provided the tech to make the students into unwilling henchmen for the Weather wizard.
But it was all for nought. W.W. learned...
That's what happens when you build your plans on a house of cards. :0

So tune in tomorrow for another episode of FORTUNE COOKIE THEATRE!
