Morgaine le Fey (or Morgan le Fay, among other spellings) is one of those public domain characters that have made their presence known in various types of literature, including both Marvel and DC Comics. I like to think that it's the same character appearing in both, creating an unofficial crossover between the superhero universes.
Cool cover!
ReplyDeleteShe's kinda like that Access character...
What "Access" do you mean?
ReplyDeleteGoogle it
ReplyDeleteThe same could be said of the female character, Witchfire. At Marvel, she was supposedly the daughter of Belasco (self-proclaimed "Lord of Limbo"). At DC, she was a metahuman model-turned-rock star named Rebecca Carstairs. I say: why couldn't she have been both? The former alternating at being the latter!
ReplyDeleteI would love to see a cover with two or more of these public domain characters that appear in multiple comic universes getting together. Two characters that come to mind who appear in at least three different universes are Hercules (Marvel, DC, Charleton, Image's Larsenverse, etc) and Frankenstein's Monster (DC, Marvel, Hanna-Barbera, Dick Briefer, etc).
ReplyDeleteFor that matter, Several Hercules, Thors (including the ginger model) and amazons having a party at the Oblivion Bar when in walks Merlins. called "There's a Crisis a-brewing".
ReplyDeleteAnd on a side note, try Loki & Joker vs Catwoman, Black Cat & Mighty Mouse for a little game of Cat + Mouse. (with a cameo by The Riddler.)
These two heroes meeting... I would've expected, and hoped for, seeing them on the backs of their winged horses. In fact, I think we really need that, in a follow-up.
ReplyDeleteAs for Morgan, and speaking of Access (as AirDave did), I also think that it would be interesting to see him splitting Morgan into the two separate entities from Marvel and DC, as an attempt to stop her ongoing mischief between the two multiverses. Alternately, she could have a run-in with Iron Beetle, Green Devil, and HellPhantom (see #2548). Or the latter cover could be Part I of an adventure that concludes with the former!
And if you don't mind turning Kit Walker's cousin Patsy into HellPhantom (as suggested), you could simply have her team up with Iron Beetle and Green Devil to form... The Mergers!
DC alone has at least TWO versions of Morgan anyway: The one shown here, and the one in 'Camelot 3000'...
ReplyDeleteto Bob Greenwade, Quit horsing around. We don't have all knight.🏇🏇
ReplyDeleteImmediate Reaction: Oh how the Mighty have fallen they transgendered Jaffar from Walt Disney's Aladdin!
ReplyDeleteDo you mean the SONG "Access"?
ReplyDeleteTo those unknowing: Access was a character in the Marvel vs DC, JLA/Avengers, and one or two other intercompany crossovers in the 90s and 00s. He was a man who could bridge both multiverses, connecting the two and keeping them in balance, with the ability to take two people, one from each of the two multiverses, and fuse them into a single individual (and de-fuse them later). He's co-owned equally by both companies, but has only (as far as I know) appeared in any other comic once.
ReplyDelete@Anonymii 625 & 726: "Access" as in Axel Asher. Glorified crossing guard for the two primary multiverses; first introduced in the now-classic mini-series "DC vs. Marvel."
ReplyDeleteOHHHHHHHHHHHHH! That one.
ReplyDelete;-)

I remember him from 'Marvel vs DC' and some other places, but are you sure that he also appeared in JLA/Avengers?
Simreeve: No, I'm not.
ReplyDeleteThis Morgana looks like a cross between Karnilla of Asgard and the Iron Maiden (of "T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents" fame).
ReplyDelete@Carycomic Why yes, yes it does.
ReplyDelete@Brother Kelly-Matthew: whereas Marvel's MLF has Diamondback's hair color and Cassandra (aka "Elvira") Patterson's taste in low-altitude necklines.
ReplyDeleteP.S.---@BrotherKellyMatthew: I'd say more like the love-child of Dr. Doom and Alizarin Crimson.
