Does Marvel have the rights to use Spider-Woman independently in their movies, or is she included in the partnership deal like Spider-Man and his villains? Either way, I'd love to see her show up on the big screen. I would of course prefer her classic look depicted here, rather than the more movie-friendly outfit she has been sporting in the comics for the past few years. If they can't use her, maybe we'll at least see her show up in an animated Spider-Verse sequel?
That is a beautiful cover, right out of the Twilight Zone¡ Early Bizarro was still an unknown element then. On Disney, Jessica could open a detective office and..oh, already been done? oh well.
ReplyDeleteFrom what I see on the Wikipedia article for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, there is a planned spin-off, Spider-Women, which would feature Gwen Stacy meeting Jessica Drew and Cindy Moon. Since that's a Sony film line, I think it's safe to conclude that Jessica is on the Sony side of the contract. It'll be a while, then, before we see her in live action; there's been a hint that she may appear in an Easter Egg in Spider-Man: Far From Home, but we'll probably have to wait until a fourth Spider-Man film before we get to seriously meet her.
ReplyDeleteAnother thought: Seeing Bizarro here reminded me of how, for a while, Bizarro #1 was making a genuine effort to be an actual hero, albeit a rather inept one. If you can find an equally inept Marvel character (and I'm sure there are at least a few good candidates), you could have a fun story there.
ReplyDeleteAnother possibility for Bizarro -- though a pretty challenging one (I don't even know how you'd do it) -- might be to see the Spidey-signal answered by a Spider-Bizarro. (That would, of course, call for a later team-up with Iron Beetle.)
Shouldn't Bizarro's word balloon read: "It am an imperfect day..." ? Or, at the very least "It am a bad day..." ?
ReplyDeleteThat would be true of Silver Age Bizarro. But, I think this is Modern Age Bizarro. A degenerated clone of Superman; hence, more grammatically correct than, say, Yoda. Just more child-like than Supes!
ReplyDeleteEither way, I love this cover. I only wish Billy Idol had been depicted making that statement!
Isn't it about time MODOK met Metron to see who would be the Chairman of the World?
ReplyDeleteOr add another sedentary character... three chairs, hip hip hooray!
ReplyDeleteI got the perfect title for such a "story."
ReplyDelete"SEAT OF POWER"
I still like my Chairman of the World suggestion. But your Seat of Power is also a possibility. Other options include:
ReplyDeleteSitting Pretty
I won't stand for it
Not taking this lying down
Part of the furniture
...
@Anon 303: "Chairman of the Worlds" would be better.
ReplyDeleteIt's not 100% clear to me but I hope this cover is implying Bizarro is going to try to marry Spider-Woman & not his "imperfect cousin" Supergirl.
ReplyDelete@Anon 254: maybe she's really Carolyn Danvers, once again impersonating her foster sister.
ReplyDeleteIn the immortal words of Bugs Bunny: "Hmmmmmmmmm! Could be."
ReplyDeleteIn that case, maybe Spider-Woman is actually Jessica's Cousin Nancy, in disguise.
