Now that Skrulls have been introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, some are speculating about the Secret Invasion event being brought to the big screen. Since that would involve sleeper Skrulls, there is speculation as to whether any characters that we have seen thus far have been alien imposters all along. If they go that route, my top suspects would be Maria Hill and Hawkeye (heck, make his whole family Skrulls). Or would they go for someone more high profile?
anyone missing before Avengers Endgame would be fair game....even Spidy.
ReplyDeleteBut, the Skrulls have been portrayed as persecuted Good Guys! Why would they want to invade Marvel Cinema Earth (secretly or otherwise)?Unless plans are to portray it as being done by an extremist faction of Skrulls. One with the same attitude that Magneto's Brotherhood of Mutants demonstrated in the first X-men movie: "Let's do unto them what they did unto us. Only worse!"
ReplyDeleteI'd rule out anyone with a solo film (including those in the works) or with intrinsic superpowers (which Skrulls cannot mimic), and anyone with known blood relations is possible but unlikely. That does leave some borderline-to-downright scary possibilities: Pepper Potts, Jim Rhodes, Bobbi Morse, Maria Hill, Happy Hogan, Sen. David Schultz... and those are just the ones I can think of offhand.
ReplyDeleteCary: In the comics, the Secret Invasion was led by an extremist faction, so why not the MCU?
My guess? All the characters from the Marvel Netflix shows were Skrulls this whole time.
ReplyDeleteThat way the can re-cast all the roles if/when those shows move over to Disney's new streaming service.
Yes?
No?
Maybe?
You mean, those religious fanatics who thought their ownership of the Earth had been literally preordained? Yeah, I suppose they could be declared extremists. But, that's really saying a lot, as _all_ the Skrulls, from the Silver Age onward, seemed to have that same attitude with regard to Earth. So, I suppose those religious fanatics would have to be sub-categorized as ultra-extremists.
ReplyDeleteFor some reason, when I saw this on my screen and saw the plane, my brain transposed Hawkeye into Blackhawks. Which begs the question: Have Hawkeye and the Blackhawks ever crossed paths?
ReplyDeletePS: I'm still waiting for Tobias Whale to start conspiring with Wilson Fisk. The two seem so very similar....
ReplyDeleteHerbie the FatFury is probably keeping them apart.
