Batter late than never, looks like I was able to get a cover up after all today - thanks to all for your understanding and kind words.
After school and before dinner was the time that I would catch Batman and Doctor Who reruns when I was growing up. I can only imagine how excited I would have been to see that the two shows were crossing over for an episode! I'm actually pretty surprised with myself that I am only now getting around to having these two meet on the blog, not sure what took me so long.
Great job, Ross. I think I speak for everyone when I say you could have waited. Family comes first. Sorry for your lost. Thank you for everything you do.
ReplyDeleteI understand why it seems so important to meet your daily schedule, no matter what.
ReplyDeleteProperly, Batman (Adam West) should have teamed up with second Doctor Patrick Troughton in the late '60s. I know the Doctor time travels, so any iteration of Doctor, or any era of Bats, is possible, but that would have been the most likely one during that period. But Tom Baker is the favorite Doctor of most older comics fans, so sure, why not?
I love this!
ReplyDeleteThat is all.
Hope you're ok, Ross. (sometimes depression can hit later than you might realise. just saying.)
ReplyDeleteBatman 66 has met a whole bunch of crossover stars, so this could easily be done even today.
Could you do a cover of Diana Rigg's Mrs. Peel (BBC Avengers) meeting Wonder Woman?
(Considering how often Clark & Bruce used to switch identities, these two could have a real variety of potentials.) thanks for the consideration.
BBC Avengers? Don't you mean ITV Avengers?
Deletewonderful cover concept, Ross... two of my favorite live action heroes meeting up for Batcave action....
ReplyDeletei just read piece of trivia just the other day that in the cartoon opening of the old Saturday morning Captain Marvel live action show when the gods were explaining which powers they bestowed on young Billy, Adam West was the voice of Hercules.... and i am currently reading Tom Baker's new book "Scratchman" from an old story idea he had for a Doctor Who script....
synchronicity is amazing....
hope you are doing well, my friend????
It was a lovely ceremony with many kind remembrances from family and friends, thanks guys.
ReplyDeleteYup Baker is my favorite Doctor, so I tend to default to him.
Rad: original and BEST of those who've worn the mantle.
ReplyDeleteWith "Shazam" debuting today (April 5th!), maybe DC's Captain Marvel could be paired up with Magnum P.I.; those characters (esp. Captain Marvel in his Fawcett comics days) were lovable comic relief heroes (I know, Thomas Magnum is not super-powered).

Oh, what a wonderful idea!
A Wonder Woman/Mrs. Peel team-up would be doubly fitting. Considering how it was the latter's popularity that led to the former's temporary "de-powerment" in the early 1970's!
ReplyDeleteRe: today's covers? I, too, am pleasantly surprised that you were able to post these. I expected you to take, at least, a week off! But, everyone works through their grief in different ways. And, sometimes, it takes the form of what professional shrinks might call "occupational therapy."
In any case, thank you for making it the 4th Doctor that Batman '66 teams up with. Because to Neil Robertson is right. Tom Baker's best-known character is to Doctor Who fans (like myself) what Sean Connery is to 007 fans. The epitome!
I was so busy yesterday afternoon and evening, between seeing Shazam! and watching the season premiere of Cloak and Dagger, that I never even got to check what was up here. I'm glad these stay up, because this one is a treat.
ReplyDeleteLike Neil said, properly speaking Adam West's Batman would have crossed over with Patrick Troughton's Doctor, but even if you didn't just default to the Fourth Doctor, Doctor Who was in black-and-white until Jon Pertwee took over the '70, so appropriate color photos of Troughton as the Doctor are a little harder to come by. But who's to say that Adam couldn't have come back for a TV special during the late 70s, to meet Tom's Doctor at the height of classic Doctor Who's popularity in the US?
Or the Clock King could've stolen the flux capacitor from Doc Brown's time-traveling locomotive. Leading to its recovery by the Dynamic Duo...and its subsequent installment within Batmobile '66.
ReplyDeleteWhich, in turn, attracts the attention of both the 4th Doctor and the Daleks!
I can just see a Dalek trying to operate one of those old Burroughs 205 computers: "Theez systemz are crude, but will still serve our puropse." The Doctor then realizes the Bat-Cave is actually the heart of a dormant temporal vortex that the Daleks are trying to re-open. (Which would wipe out Gotham City!) Maybe Robin and Sarah Jane try to reach Commissioner Gordon, but are captured and taken hostage when they uncover the secret of the Wayne family history.
ReplyDeleteThe Daleks nearly succeed in their evil plan, but are thwarted when the Caped Crusader quickly uses the Bat-Chrono-Stabilizer, while the Doctor wounds them with cutting insults. Maybe Bruce Wayne is actually a lost Time Lord with amnesia?
Afterwards, the Doctor could stop by Wayne Manor for tea. I wonder how Alfred would react to him?
Hopefully, more favorably than the writing and directing in SHAZAM made me react to the hopelessly over-powered acting. :-(
ReplyDeleteRoss, were you aware of Tom's return in #11's Day of the Doctor?
ReplyDeleteYes, very cool
