I am glad to see that Dick Tracy is back in the comics, with talented creators like Mike Allred on board to depict his adventures. Being a digital TPB only guy these days, I will probably wait for a collected edition, but I definitely plan to check it out. As I mentioned yesterday, Plastic Man has a new home in The Terrifics these days as well. I was surprised to see he got a costume change (which looks good) for the new series - I wasn't sure he could do that!
And just in time for the announcement of a Plastic Man movie
ReplyDeleteI remember back in the day when Jim Carrey would have been an excellent Plas.
And speaking of Jim Carrey, how about Plastic Man meets The Mask?
I don't remember all the details, but there was an sub-plot/arc in Morrison's JLA run where Batman asked Plas why he couldn't change colors when his son (Offspring) could. They figured out it was some kind of mental block, which Plas finally broke when he needed to imitate something specific to save his son.
ReplyDeleteI saw that one commentator of comic suggested that the Terrifics were too much like the Fantastic Four. That made me wonder if that should be a pairing. I think that it would be an interesting pair up.
ReplyDeleteInteresting! I know you've teamed up Tracy with the Spirit. But, have you ever given the latter the privilege of meeting Plas?
ReplyDelete@Cary: Plas and the Spirit both appeared in Police Comics in the '40s. They never had a story together, but they shared a few covers. See https://www.comics.org/series/226/covers/
ReplyDelete@Bob Buethe: I thought that was the similar-looking Man Called Midnight.
ReplyDelete@Cary Comic: No, (Man Called) Midnight was in Smash Comics, and was created to be a ripoff of The Spirit as a "backup" for the Spirit's newspaper strip in case Eisner didn't make it back from WWII. (According to Wikipedia, at least.)
ReplyDelete@Jay Johnson: I, Stan Corrected.
ReplyDelete;-)
@Mike Shirley: Also, Red Skull meets the Mask; they both have masked faces that are skull-shaped!
ReplyDeleteImagine the arsenal they could carry with some Pym Particles (Marvel). Pyming Aint Easy.
ReplyDelete@Bob Buethe: if they never had a canonical adventure together, even during the Golden Age, that's all the more reason Ross should "officially" bring them together, here, for the first time ever!
ReplyDelete"Who wants it to be Last Day?" "No Cubs over 15 Billy...they'll rip you guts apart!" - Logan 5.
ReplyDeleteAnd Logan 6 probably did the gut-ripping with his bone claws.
ReplyDelete;-)
Which would make him the new "Young Man Logan."
ReplyDeleteThere was a Jessica 6 and a Logan 5. There was no Logan 6, and there is no San-CTU-Ar-RY.
ReplyDeleteLogan 5 was looking for his numerical successor in the beginning of the feature film. In this case, however, I was making a Wolverine pun (in case you hadn't realized).
ReplyDeleteWolverine is over played. "Fish Plankton Sea-greens and protein form the sea fresh as harvest day......MY BIRDS!!!" - Box.
ReplyDeleteWell, at least Hugh Jackman didn't have to wear the yellow spandex outfit from the comic books. They're effectively scary in the latter medium. But, in a live-action film, he'd have resembled Siamese Catman!
ReplyDeleteTrust me, he was suitably scary in the fight scenes with just street clothes.
Jugh Hackman is The Culpable One. Rated R.
ReplyDelete@Brother Barnes: Didn't he also bite Candace Bergen's bullet? ;-)
ReplyDelete@Carycomic: that was GENE Hackman!
ReplyDeleteA very weird off the wall team-up:
ReplyDeleteThe M&M's Candy Crew have just been framed for the death of Willy Wonka and Angel O'Day wants to know which one did it in "Chocolate Meltdown."
