This might be a interesting set up. How different would Spider-Man's career be if he operated out of a city that had a more cooperative view to his crime-fighting activities?
I look forward to the upcoming season of Gotham. Given that this has been announced to be the final season for the show, I expect them to go all out and throw everything at the wall. This year's episodes promise to be even crazier than usual.
Yes I think Commissioner Gordon is key to Batman's success in Gotham City and generally mayors go along with it for when they suppress Gordon's desire bringing in someone else mayors tend to die.
ReplyDeleteImagine press conference with Gordon and J. Jonah Jameson!
I am loving this Spider-Signal! That would indeed be a very interesting relationship.
ReplyDeleteHaving just finished Season 4 (via Netflix), I'm also finding things quite interesting for the final season (which, as I understand things, actually starts next year). Bringing us No Man's Land and The Killing Joke at the same time was an interesting -- and frankly shocking -- decision.
All but a couple of Batman's A- and B-list adversaries are now active; we still have yet to see Harvey Dent's transformation into Two-Face, Jeremiah needs to truly become the Joker, and as for Selina... she may never become Catwoman, but instead develop into Oracle. I'd still love to see the Ventriloquist, as well as certain little-seen villains such as King Tut, Egghead, and even the Condiment King.
On another note, maybe nthe male Legionaires couild get a shock of their lives where Dream Girl comes out as a MALE!LOL!
ReplyDeleteSelina became Oracle in the 'Flashpoint' reality...
ReplyDeleteSeeing as the She-ra reboot is less than a month from now on Netflix, maybe the 80s She-ra could meet Sheera, Mighty Mightor's (or Tor's) female friend where Sheera decides to use Mightor's magic club to become Sheera, princess of Power; Mightor's magic club is a lot like He-Man's Magic sword would be if it was spoofed in the world of the Flintstones; Also BTW, in Future Quest by DC Comics, Tor(Mightor has a mate named Teela (which is also the name of a major female friend of He-Man (Prince Adam).
ReplyDeleteI always thought of Mightor's girlfriend as "Shiera," like Hawkgirl. Hmmm, and they were both redheads, too. There's a crossover idea in there...
ReplyDeleteMy guess is, that was the long-range plan all along. End the series with young Bruce finally donning the Bat-garb! Or, at least, this was certainly implied by that semi-precognitive hallucination he had prior to last season's cliff-hanger.
ReplyDelete@Anon: Mightor's magic club might be imprinted to Tor's voice only. Because I remember one cartoon, from the original series, where Little Rokk uttered the phrase "MIGHTOOOOOR!" while holding the club.
And nothing happened!! He didn't change at all.
That Dreamgirl idea was inspired by the debut of Nia Nall in the TV show Supergirl.
ReplyDeleteFinally someone who wont disappear on him in mid-sentence.
ReplyDeleteI have not seen an episode of Gotham.
ReplyDeleteWhile we're talking about He-Man & co., does anybody else here think that Eternia is an alternative-reality counterpart of New Genesis (and Skeletor = Darkseid?)? I remember reading an issue of DC Comics Presents in which the Eternian heroes' wise advisor turned up in a flying chair and thinking "Mentor?"...
ReplyDelete^_^
Revisiting this for the Spider Signal looks so good (honestly better than bat signal) and I just needed to comment on it.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Glenn!
ReplyDeleteYesterday I read a golden-age story featuring Dr Fate's first confrontation with Mr Who, who had a truly awesome power set (he was basically invulnerable, could grow in size and also could be invisible). It looks like he's never appeared on your blog. How about Mr Who meets Dr Who? (Perhaps with the former trying to conquer the Whos of Whoville?)
ReplyDeleteOr, at the very least, going up against the evil Dr. Who from KING KONG ESCAPES.
ReplyDeleteQuick postscript: I hope this isn't the last we see of the Spider-Signal!
ReplyDeleteAnd I hope the sequel cover depicts Tim Drake's Robin driving the Spider-Buggy up the wall! :-)
ReplyDeleteThe wall of GCPD HQ, that is. ;-)
