The Guardian and Captain America in :"The Great Shield Swap!"

It's been cool having The Guardian as part of Supergirl on the CW show, even if instead of Jim Harper or Jake Jordan, it's Jimmy Olsen behind the mask for some reason.  I would like to see him sporting a more colorful outfit and shield, to look a little closer to the comic book version.

This is the third team-up between these two - they last appeared together in STF #790, and first met way back in STF #69...

  1. Isn't there a connection between Olsen and the Guardian from the pre crisis books?

  2. The Guardian was a supporting character in the Jimmy Olsen comic when Kirby was writing the book.

Of course, so was Don Rickles' twin brother "Goody" Rickles.

  3. This is all kinds of awesome!!

I've always been a fan of the Guardian since I was introduced to him in the pages of the All-Star Squadron.

  4. I became a fan of the Guardian in the All-Star Squadron, too. Wish they would remake that series. Anyway, I was wondering about the possibility of a cover with just heroes that use shields. Is it a possibility?

  5. In the "Crisis on Earth-X" crossover, Guardian (of Earth-X) used the American-flag-patterned shield and costume pattern that the original had for a while. I was half-expecting that version here. (Maybe that combination could be used next July 4th.)

Still, this reminds me of the Green Lantern/Space Ghost team-up that DC did under the "DC Comics Meets Hanna-Barbera" banner, in which those two heroes briefly traded power devices.

Since these two "shield-sluggers" are slowly becoming a "thing," how about having Guardian crash something going on with Cap and Wonder Woman?

Like you, I do think it's time for CW's Guardian to take up a more colorful look. When he started, he was more of a night vigilante; now he's out in the daylight (in more ways than one), so brighter colors would make him look more hope-inspiring.

  6. Don't forget that Mal Duncan was also the Guardian for a while in the seventies Teen Titans title.

  7. Well, they're obviously not going up against a Roaring 20's version of the Wild Bill Robot, this time. Not with a Tommy gun and Colt .45 ACP in place of twin six shooters!

  8. More likely a raid of Project: Cadmus by Kraalian Skrulls.

  9. I'd like to see the Newsboy Legion show up on Supergirl. (Unless they already have, I'm about two seasons behind.) For that matter, they haven't shown up on this blog in about 7 years.
