Black Panther Vs. Deathstroke

This is a match up that I would like to see.  Not many villains are able to match the fighting abilities of Black Panther, but Deathstroke would probably give him quite a challenge.  Now, having the battle on T'Challa's home turf is a miscalculation on Deathstroke's part, as it certainly gives the Wakandan King the edge - but Slade Wilson does his homework and wouldn't go into a fight without setting up some advantages of his own.

  1. I agree, Ross; this would be an epic encounter, crammed with all manner of tricks on both sides. I do think the home-field advantage would work for T'Challa, though; most likely he'd trip Wilson up with something truly "old school."

And every time you refer to Deathstroke as "Mr. Wilson," I want to see him being antagonized by someone named Dennis. The only one I can think of, though, is the original, young Mr. Mitchell.

Oh, and how about a team made of up characters who can turn invisible? Sue Richards, Jacques Foccart, Violet Parr, Space Ghost, and perhaps a couple of others. (It could even be an April Fool's cover, with no character art whatsoever!)

  2. You make a good point, Ross. The one and only time Deathstroke went up against Wolverine, for example, the former was able to duck under Logan's right-hand claws. Despite the latter striking from behind!

  3. @Bob Greenwade: Deathstroke's real name was also the name of a neighbor on Home Improvement and of an imaginary friend (well the second part of the name) on Castaway.

  4. This is, in my opinion, one of your best covers. Composition is really difficult with preexisting figures. Add to that finding artists with compatible styles, or two bits by the same artist, and the issues around backgrounds, and your task is always a formidable one. You've pulled it off really well here. The flow of their arms and the ribbons give this the look of a dynamic composition that was designed as one piece from the start. Bravo!

  5. I gotta' give this one to T'Challa in the end. Sure Slade would most definitely get some good licks in, but I think overall despite his version of the super-soldier serum, BP's got this one in the bag. I mean if he can take down the entire FF, a rampaging rhino, Captain America and many, many others, this'll battle will be no different.

    Sweet cover as always Ross.

  6. How often does: D the T kill the Hero, The B P kill the Antihero? They'll both live.

  7. Bob, surely you meant Lyle Norg...? ;-)

  8. Reg: I prefer Jacques, at least for that team (that whole diversity thing).

  9. Ross, I have to agree with Jim on this one. Sometimes you have covers that a flawless. This is one of them. Certainly shows your keen eye for matching all the many variables that go into your efforts. One of your most believable covers to date.

Deathstroke's probably done more research on the Panther's abilities beforehand than either the FF or the rhino did...

  11. @Anon: Oh, sure, there are many Wilsons -- but there's only one MISTER Wilson. (OK, two, if you're talking about the Dennis the Menace TV show.)

  12. Three if you can count the Merc With A Mouth.

    "They call me MR. Wilson!"

  13. Speaking of which: hey, Ross! How about Batman meets Virgil Tibbs?

You could call it..."In The Heat of a Dark Knight."
