I think this could make for a very interesting combo. Hawkman prefers to use ancient weapons, while Iron Man is all about cutting edge technology. That said, I can see Tony Stark being very interested in Nth Metal and all of the possible applications for it. Of course that discussion would have to wait until they took care of the two bruisers above...
I'm really enjoying this new Hawkman series. Carter Hall has an interesting group of supporting characters and he is becoming more of the Indiana Jones he seems to be. I'm curious to see how having his past come back to haunt him will play out. It feels very much like a Hawkman: Rebirth...
ReplyDeleteCurious, I went to look up the Blood Brothers, and wouldn't you know but that the Wikipedia article shows Iron Man #55, from which the above images were taken. Since these two are Marvel characters, I think it might be interesting to see Iron Man and the Teen Titans go up against Brother Blood and the Blood Brothers. (I can just hear Gar quipping, "You guys should've formed a band!")
ReplyDeleteThe heck with Nth metal...I think Tony would love to take a gander at that Thanagarian Absorbascon! http://dc.wikia.com/wiki/Absorbascon
ReplyDeleteI've always been interested in how different artists interpret the wings on Hawkman's helmet. This have to be one of the largest set I've seen. Is this from a "DC Presents" (Superman team-up) or JLA cover? I don't remember Garcia Lopez doing any solo Hawkman work.
ReplyDeleteI remember this cover! From the volume one issue of Iron Man that first introduced Thanos and the other Eternals of the Saturnian moon Titan. Including the initially Supermannish Drax the Destroyer!
ReplyDeleteJay, it's from a DC Style Guide.
ReplyDeleteAr first I was like "Hawkman? Almost as useful as Sugar and Spike!" But then I remembered those weapons he's got! Pretty sure he'll give the twins a round thumping with' em. they won't soon forget. "Birds? My head aches just thinking of it, brother."
ReplyDeleteHawkman is really interesting in that he's a visually beautiful and majestic looking character but his only superpower of flight is essentially useless in a universe where flight is a SUB-power of practically every other hero in his universe and they are much faster than him at that.Poor guy. Thisnis a great team-up though.
ReplyDeleteBob, and their cousin Jason could get Etrigan to write the lyrics.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I don't disagree with the observation that Stark would be interested in Nth metal and the Absorbascon- i think he is really looking forward to his team-up with Hawkwoman
ReplyDeleteI agree with Ross. Tony Stark would TOTALLY be interested in the properties of Nth metal.
ReplyDeleteI just looked up the DC Style Guide. Wow, what a resource for the looks of that era! And you can't get much cleaner than Giordano inking over Garcia Lopez
ReplyDeleteHawkman is more than flyer. If they use the Silver Age Hawkman he can go to space without a suit, speaks to birds, the Nth metal adds to his strength (you see him picking up a car into air) and healing plus he has access to a lot of technology not available on earth including Absorbacron which he learned bird language.
ReplyDelete@Tran and Glenn: Add that versatile power claw he used, in the Filmation cartoons from 1967/68, and you've got one bad-ass bird, man!
ReplyDeleteThis is great!!
