Wow, already up to STF #2300! To think my original goal was to get to 500 covers. I have been glad to see some comics titles that have been stopped and re-started with new first issues have gone back to their original numbering. There's something very cool about seeing solicits for Action Comics with issue numbers in the 1000's. Plus, as a collector, all that re-numbering made keeping them in order a pain!
happy anniversary, Ross...
ReplyDeletemay you make another 2300 (that would be awesome!!!)...
my favorite above is Siryn and Black Canary....
but all of them are excellent!!!
Will this be available in Wal-Mart with the other DC Comics 100 pagers...? ;)
ReplyDeleteIt's a blog exclusive!
ReplyDeleteI too give kudos for the Siryn/Black Canary team-up. Here's to the next 2300!
ReplyDeleteI prefer to think that DC was just pulling a Classic Coke/New Flavor Coke-type trick with the (thankfully temporary) renumbering of Action Comics.
ReplyDeleteIt beats the alternative theory of recurring corporate insanity.
Spidey and Friends meet the JLA? Ingenious!
ReplyDeleteMakes me wonder if Flint Marko co-mingled his silicon particles with those of Sandy Hawkins in order to mind-control him.
Was ""Sandy" Hawkins" a name inspired by Al Capp's "Sadie Hawkins"?
ReplyDeleteRoss, the milestone covers are always a treat, and this one is no exception; thank you for another winner. I have to admit though, that when I first saw the Nightwing feature out of the corner of my eye, I thought it was vs. the Hobgoblin! That'd be a great matchup too, but it gave me another idea. Wilson Fisk has had enough of Hobgoblin reigning mayhem down upon New York, and brings in the other Wilson - Slade - to clean up the mess, in: "Contract: Hobgoblin!"
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of which maybe Al Capp's Li'l Abner could meet Goku of Dragon Ball Z; the latter character is rumored to be inspired by the former (...)
ReplyDeleteGotta love those anniversary issue covers!
ReplyDeleteI especially like the Nightwing versus Nighthawk portion.
I would totally read a Nightwing/Nighthawk mini!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on another anniversary. Personally I would have preferred a "Super-Friends" logo (all Saturday morning!) rather than the JLA for the main story. Can't believe the Night boys haven't been done before, or the loud ladies (you can probably do a follow-up with a whole team of screamers). And even a "put-him-on-the-cover-to-protect-the-trademark" story with Max Mercury -- I'm still waiting for him to pop back up in Rebirth, maybe with Bart finally back it will happen.
ReplyDeleteNice one! I'll admit that SANDMAN is one of my least favorite villains, but this would be a cool story. The NIGHTWING/NIGHTHAWK feature would be the real treat though.
ReplyDeleteI like the Photon and Max Mercury one. It would be quite a story and I'd like to see a follow up.
ReplyDeleteRoss: I've always thought that your blogging represents how comics were and should be. Hopefully someday, with all the restarts and cosmic resets, someone will remember when comics also used to be fun and refer to your work as inspiration for a new generation of readers.
ReplyDelete@Anon #2: Most likely.
ReplyDelete@Anon #3: All I know for sure is that 99% of the inspiration came from the Chinese legend of Sun Wu Kung the Monkey King.
ReplyDeleteThomas, when I first saw that image I thought it was the Blue Falcon, and was expecting a caption punning on Boy Wonder and Dog Wonder.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on 2300!
ReplyDeleteThe "Scream Queens" are my favorite pairing this time!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on reaching #2300. While I'm hoping you don't quit anytime soon, is there an ending point for you somewhere down the line, or is is simply you'll keep doing this until you're tired of it?
ReplyDeleteI'd like to keep it up as long as I can without it getting too repetitive or starting to phone it in. So as long as folks get a kick out of it and I have some patrons I am going to do my best to keep it up
ReplyDeletesweet music to my eyes...
