This cover marks a first for me. It's the only time that I have used an image on a cover that I actually own the original artwork for! I remember loving the Kevin Nowlan illustrations of each member of The Fantastic Four that is saw listed on Ebay, and wanting them all on my wall. Alas, my limited budget resulted in my being easily outbid on three of the four. The Thing is my favorite Marvel character, so I placed a higher bid on his illustration, and I was lucky enough to win that auction:
Very cool to be able to use it on a cover!
The LSH and The FF first crossed paths in STF #2066...
Maybe the Thing(FF) could meet the Thing(1982 film).
ReplyDeleteThat one is already on the blog - click the Thing one and Thing two label to find it.
ReplyDeleteRecognize the source for the Legion components. Adventure 333. Too bad you didn't change the Krypton flag to a Legion one.
ReplyDeleteThis is still my favorite blog.
ReplyDeleteHope you don't mind a suggestion (I'm sure you already get too many....): Just saw "I, Tonya" with, of course, Margot Robbie and Sebastian Stan. Made me think that Harley Quinn and the Winter Soldier would be a good pairing. Both are sorta hero/villains and the contrast between the tongue-in-cheek Harley and the grim former Bucky would be fun.
@EW: actually, that could play into Ross' version, quite well!
ReplyDeleteIn the original story, prehistoric Earth was colonized by certain Kryptonian expatriates who had apparently emigrated before the permanent ban on space exploration that was put into effect by the Science Council. But, of course, even then, our planet wasn't big enough to tolerate the presence of other extra-terrestrial refugees. Namely...the Atlanteans!
Hence, the title: "The Civil War of The Legion."
Now, if DC or Marvel were privileged enough to have Ross working for them, the aformentioned story could be ret-conned so that Kang (as part of some long-range scheme against the Avengers) is trying to prevent the founding of Atlantis!* So, he uses his brainwashing ultra-anondyne ray on the LSH. Causing the Time Trapper to enlist the Puppet Master's aid in "recruiting" the FF.
Ah, well! One can always dream. :-(
*No more Namor, no more Avengers amped up by Capt. America Right?
Has Kang ever taken on Degaton?
ReplyDeleteNo, but they have teamed up.
ReplyDeleteMay I inquire as to where? I don't get any results under the "Kang" tag for such a team-up. And the left-hand master column seems to lack any entries under D, P, or even I for "Injustice Society of the World!"
ReplyDelete:-(
Try the Per Degaton Label
ReplyDeleteAh! There it is. Thanks for putting it back. :-)
ReplyDeleteThe last time I looked, it jumped right from "Pennywise" to "Pet Avengers!"
