I watched these two boy heroes in adventures on Saturday mornings when I grew up, and always thought it would be cool if they got together. While Robin had access to all sorts of cool gadgets and vehicles, he was still a junior partner. Jonny may have been a bit more low tech, but he definitely seemed like the leader of his group to me. Together, they could have taught each other a thing or two.
I know that's supposed to be Robin's shadow crossing Race Bannon's face. But, it still looks like he's wearing some kind of "Phantom of the Opera" mask! Or could it be some kind of mind-controlling parasite? Like, say, a bit of Inque (Clayface's black-and-blue successor)?
ReplyDeleteI like the concept, but this is one of the few covers where the execution doesn't work for me. With all the boyish images of Robin around (something by Dick Sprang perhaps), using a heavily muscled pose from his college years doesn't really fit with Jonny.
ReplyDeletemaybe jonny could join the teen titans????
ReplyDelete@Anonymous - I agree!
ReplyDeleteAlthough they never had a comic, that I'm aware of at least, I'd love to see the Venture Brothers show up here sometime.
ReplyDeleteI have gotten a few requests for venture brothers before, but I must confess I have yet to see a single episode so I don't know much about them. I figured they were just a Johnny quest spoof.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jay that the younger Robin (but definitely not Daimon) would work better with Jonny.
ReplyDeleteI got back from seeing INCREDIBLES 2, earlier tonight. And it wasn't bad!
ReplyDeleteI especially loved the video clip from "The Robot Spy" episode of JQ.
P.S.---Jay Johnson is right. Tim Drake's Robin would've been closer in age to classic JQ.
