The Partridge Family in The Marvel Universe

I remember seeing ads for "The biggest rock event of the decade", as Stan Lee so subtly put it - Spider-Man Rock Reflections of a Superhero,  and wondering what that was all about.  I am sure that I can find the contents on YouTube, but did anyone here get this when it first came out?  If so, did you find it to be any good?  Was there a story thread or just random songs strung together?  And does anything on it top the classic Metamorpho theme song from Power Records?  That's a high bar.

  1. I got Spider-Man Rock Reflections of a Superhero on CD in 2006. It is... certainly interesting.

Some songs are decent, others not, but always entertaining. It does tell the story of Spider-man up to the death of Gwen Stacey.

I do love the lyrics "Its like fighting both sides of a mirror," and "could somebody call me Peter Parker before I go insane, you see this other guy I've been lately forgot I had a name."

Ooo... also, ""Peter don't cheat when the test comes, peter eats lunch all alone. Peter gets tripped on in Gym class AHAHA Peter can't wait to get home."

On the CD at least, I'm pretty sure the narration by Stan Lee is somewhat out of order.

I enjoy listening every now and then.

  3. I've had the CD for years, listened to it twice. Definitely not as good as power records.

  5. also, in 1972 there was a "rock comic" album called "spider-man: from beyond the grave" by the web-spinners. it had a fold-out jacket and the inside was a comic story (over 40 panels) drawn by romita. there even was a guest-star, dr. strange. the record was dialog (quite a bit of peter talking to himself) along with about 6 songs between chapters. not grammy material, but not horrible and definitely interesting.

btw: sorry about the formatting, but it is #nocaps week here in vegas.

  14. Gentlemen's Gentlemen could also include Jack Benny's valet Rochester (so long as it's not the Extraordinary Gentlemen version). Unfortunately most of the cartoon images that come up for Rochester are, um, not very enlightened, but you could draw on the mouse version from the wonderful Warner Bros cartoon "The Mouse that Jack Built".

  15. Why not have Irona from Richie Rich, Hazel from the comic strip of the same name, Alice from the Brady Bunch, American Maid from The Tick, and Petunia from Little Audrey cartoons assemble as The Ready Maids!
