DC seems determined to bring Harley Quinn back to the big screen, they just don't seem to be able to decide just how to do that. There have been films floated for Harley and The Joker, Gotham City Sirens, Batgirl, Suicide Squad 2 and Batman - any of which could showcase Dr. Harleen Quinzel's breed of insanity. A Batgirl film seems to be getting the most steam these days, but DC changes their plans from week to week, so who knows where Margot Robbie will put on the face paint again?
These two shrinks first crossed paths in STF #1216...
Interesting! Did Harley get that giant ball-and-chain from the Absorbing Man; or Thunderball of the Wrecking Crew?
ReplyDeleteLast I heard the Batgirl project had been marooned after Joss Whedon bailed out (again).
ReplyDeleteI'm no Harley expert, but it seems to me that she works best as either the comic relief or as the "no filter point of view", both of which require a straight man (or woman) and a main plot to bounce off of. Both of those things have been weaknesses of the DCEU movies so far, so finding the right vehicle for Harley could be problematic.
ReplyDeleteRoss, there are times you create covers that are truly seamless. This is one of them. Angles, art, coloring, this is a great piece.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Tim! True confession time: I was almost completely done with this one before I realized I had already paired HQ and Doc together before. I had to change the dialogue at the last minute because what I had was too close to what I had done the first time around.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking just for myself, I think this would be a fun pair to revisit from time to time, simply for the "psychiatric rivalry" theme.
