Mighty Mouse Vs. Underdog


We had lots of pets growing up.  The best thing about having mice was that they fit perfectly into all of our Weeble Wobble toys.  It was almost like they had little vehicles designed just for them.  I can see why creators like to anthropomorphize them so much, remembering those days.

This cover came about from a suggestion by comics historian and Patron of this blog, Marc Tyler Nobleman.  Thank you, Marc!

    It's too bad anime superhero Tuxedo Mask is probably too gentlemanly to use the slang form of "chick"; He otherwise could team up with Tennessee Tuxedo, indirectly, at least, convincing Tennessee that he is awarded a babysitting job by offering him a chance to mingle with "chicks". Thetitle could be the before-and-after wordplay "Tennessee Tuxedo Mask".XD!

    I'm rooting for Underdog, even though I think in this case he's the, er, underdog. I'm pretty sure Mighty Mouse is more powerful.

    This is another cool cover, Ross; the only reason I'm at all lukewarm about it is that anything pales after yesterday. And I agree with Jim that sticking Mr. Mind into this mix is brilliant. It could only have been better with a feline supervillain, and there are few of those.

    Just about anything with funny animals, superpowered or otherwise, is a sure-fire win for a story!
    How about Mighty Mouse & Streaky the Supercat? Or for a totally off-the-wall team up... Jake the Dog (from Adventure Time) & Fritz the Cat

    Mighty Mouse v Underdog? Nooooo! If ever there were two upright, true-blue heroes (Bakshi's run on MM being iffy) - they should be side-by-side, which I hope, after they finish this standard superduper trope of good guys going up against each other, they will team up again.

    With Herbie. (Uh.. I don't know where that came from.) Herbie was the fat kid with the lollipop or something, right? (Off to search the web...)

    @Mindful Webworker: Yeah! Herbie Popnecker (aka "The Fat Fury"). The only other crime-fighting Herbie I've ever heard of was Disney's Lovebug!

    I can just picture Mr. Mind assuming that nickname refers to some anthropomorphic insect and trying to telepathic hypnotize him, as well.

    HERBIE: "Honk-honk!"

    MR. MIND: "Oh, no. No! NOOOOOOOOOO!!"

    @Cary Comic -- Don't forget the Fantastic Four's own HERBIE. He had to replace the Human Torch in the FF cartoon for legal reasons (but not THOSE legal reasons)

    When I was a kid, Mighty Mouse was my buddy's hero, and Underdog was mine! We were constantly arguing over who would kick whose ass if they ever fought! Wish I could get ahold of this issue!
