This could be an interesting pairing, just for the personalities involved. Two guys named Johnny, each given access to beings of incredible power - for one it is a curse and the other a chance to finally be able to stand among his heroes. Both are fighting for justice, but from very different vantage points.
This is a first?!? I would have sworn this was your 2nd or 3rd pairing if these two. Ha ha, Ross! You've done so many, I'm now imagining you did team ups that you never did!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm the other way around, a couple of times I've done a cover forgetting I already did the pairing earlier.
ReplyDeleteI remember Death-Stalker! I started thinking he might be the Phantom Stranger's Evil Twin. That is; before he revealed he was a time-displaced Exterminator.
ReplyDelete"Blaze of Thunder." LOL! That's a good one, Ross.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Anonymous. "Blaze of Thunder" is a great line!
ReplyDeleteYou need to follow this up with a pairing of their two Western heroes counterparts. Johnny Thunder and Ghost Rider (later Phantom Rider) were both from the 50s of Cowboy comics, and would make a great counterpoint!
ReplyDeleteTake care
Don
...i agree with Don above about the cowboy versions being a good counterpoint to the wonderful creative cover Ross did here...
ReplyDelete...i agree with Don above about you needing to follow-up with the two cowboy heroes with the same names...
ReplyDeleteI was about to chime in with the same as above. The two cowboy versions would make a great sequel/prequel!! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd could we see the return of Jonni Thunder PI on this blog? Did she ever appear after her initial short run in the early 1980s?
ReplyDeleteRe: Jonni Thunder PI -- she was seen once in a while in the Post-Crisis Infinity Inc. where she and Skyman (ex-Star Spangled Kid) dated a couple of times. I don't think she's been seen since Skyman was killed. If she has, it was in the background at a detective or PI conference.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely cool!
