This marks the 17th appearance of the WW/Cap team, it's about time they got some prime time exposure! Like many, I fell in love with Lynda Carter's portrayal of the Amazing Amazon as a child, and took her program very seriously. Now as I watch the reruns as an adult, I can see the cheap budget and camp, but Carters' earnest performance in the title role still wins me over.
Wonder Woman, Captain America, Spiderman, Superman, Hulk and others had TV shows or theater movies that seemed good for their day. I look back and see how cheesy they are compared to what is on today, especially TV shows such at the Netflix originals, those in what we call Arrowverse, Agents of Shield, etc. Nowadays I am like a kid in a candy store loving what I see in the superhero/sci-fi/fantasy stories.
ReplyDeleteOn this match up, I had wondered if you had featured these incarnations of these characters. I know that I have seen the various covers of their stories, and I love the concept. I would love to see those stories actually written, be it novel or comic form. I am not spouting off a bunch of mess when I say this. If your stories were to be presented to Marvel and DC, they would be foolish if either they did not publish or did not allow for their publishing, especially with Captain America and Wonder Woman.
Thank you, Ross!
Glad you liked it, Mickey!
ReplyDeleteYou could have used the Captain America costume from the first tv movie and the Cathy Lee Crosby version of Wonder Woman.
ReplyDeleteTo Lieber Kurtzberg: With the Greek mythology background, Cathy Lee Crosby's Wonder Woman outfit doesn't 19th-letter word.

ReplyDeleteWhat does that even mean?
That same straight-faced campiness is why I equally loved Batman '66 and the Reb Brown version of Captain America. As a high schooler, at the time of his TV-movies, I thought that motorcycle and transparent shield were AWESOME!

Speaking of old TV shows, hey Ross any chance of ALF showing up here sometime? Maybe with Tigra, or the Thundercats? Or Garfield? XD
ReplyDelete@jack-el: Maybe he meant "erotically stimulate."
ReplyDeleteThat's nineteen letters long!--Another Ymous.
I've been meaning to use ALF, Mike. One of these days he will show up
ReplyDelete@Mike and Ross: how about a brainwashed ALF being used by The Frog (criminal king of Empire City) against...COURAGEOUS CAT?
ReplyDeleteALF and Rocket Racoon or ALF and The Ewoks.
ReplyDeleteYou could have a lot of fun with the cover of ALF #48.

You can take the cover of ALF #48 and add Rocket Racoon saying "I'm next".
DeleteTo jack-el: It's the same word used to describe what one does to a lollipop.
ReplyDeleteALF and Alfred?
