The Question and The X-Files

The Question is another character that I would like to see show up on Arrow at some point.  He fits right into that world and he and Green Arrow have shared some comic book adventures that can be drawn upon.  His look shouldn't be difficult to pull off, even on a TV budget.

  1. I've been thinking that for awhile there Ross, especially after this this previous season and the effects they were able to manage with Ragman. They really have no excuse after that.

Very cool team-up though, especially if this is the JLU version of the Question, who's acting like Mulder anyways.

Kolchak and the Question for the win Ross;)

  2. @Dale Bagwell - I'll buy that for a dollar!

  3. This cover would (well, depending on the writer) make for a fascinating and exciting story. The Question's thought balloons alone would be enough for me to want to read it.

And, though I haven't yet seen Arrow Season 5, I agree that the Question would be a good fit for the show. Alternately, he could feature on a DC's Legends of Tomorrow episode set in the conspiracy-laden 60s/70s. And the blank face (if you'll pardon the pun) shouldn't be too much of a challenge, as anyone who's seen the Dick Tracy movie an attest.

On another topic, I just now had an inspiration about taking several heroes who are actors (or other media stars) in their civilian lives, and putting them on the panel of Hollywood Squares. The main problem would be coming up with nine such characters. Wonder Man and Blue Devil come right to mind; you could also include Dazzler and possibly Zatanna (though I'm not sure how much of a "stage magician" life she's led). I've few other ideas, though; one of the Partridges, perhaps? The Impossibles? Perhaps some actual, real-life celebs like Mr. T? (With Quantum Leap's Dr. Sam Beckett in Paul Lynde's center square?)

  4. Great cover. I'm not a big X FILES fan, but The QUESTION is one of my favorite DC characters. I would like to see him appear on ARROW as well.

  5. All too true, Ross. I mean, it shouldn't take that much effort to revamp the ensemble Jackie Earl Haley wore as Rorschach, in THE WATCHMEN (which, in turn, was probably revamped from Madonna's wardrobe, as the Blank, in DICK TRACY).

As for what Scully and Mulder might be "covering up?" I wonder if Vic Sage will be as shocked as Gambit was in a certain now-classic issue of Marvel's "What If...?"

  6. Bob G, would you include as media stars people like WGBS news reader Clark Kent?

  7. @ my namesake: or, better yet; Mr. Roy "Impossible But True" Raymond!*

Witchfire, from DC's 'Power Company', had a singing career.

  9. How about Dick Tracy, Rorschach, and the Question vs...The Blank?

I'm sure that's one trench coat brigade you've never depicted all together on one cover.

  10. P.S.---And I mean all four of them. Not just the middle two. ;-)

  11. I like the Hollywood Squares idea but the villain should be someone like Arcade.

And regarding the Question (assuming it is not the female one) I would like to see him with some of the martial arts/yoga stuff he picked up from Richard Dragon.

  12. Newsman Clark Kent could work, I think.

If nothing else, maybe Wonder Man and Blue Devil could be in a movie together.

  13. Or to flip the Hollywood Squares idea, the villain could be Mojo, who can't tell the actors from actual heroes from a parallel Earth. Adam West, Chris Reeve, Hugh Jackman, Ryan Reynolds in the center square (wearing Deadpool's hood and GL's mask), Gal Gadot, Halle Berry, Downey, etc.

  14. @ Jay: don't forget Wesley Snipes as Blade.

  15. Jay - We might as well also include Patrick Warburton, William Katt, Van Williams, etc.

  16. Bob, Anon: Sure, the more the merrier. Throw in Nick Cage as Ghost Rider too. But does Mojo pick Sly or Urban when he goes looking for Judge Dredd?

  17. Just so long as he picks Dolph Lundgren as the Punisher.

A week or two back I suggested teaming-up Kolchak ('the Night Stalker') with Kojak. It occurs to me that the surname of Rorschach's original identity was Kovacs, so how about adding him to that team?

  19. @ There might be too much confusion with the late, great Ernie. LOL!

  20. Give me the Ditko Question or make up your own characters, DC/WB! I get it, a coherent philosophy makes it harder to write than the usual comics, but enough already. You've ruined every character Ditko gave you!

  21. Major shout out to Super Team family. They’re killing it with these covers. Absolutely amazing 🤩
