The Metal Men were rumored for cinematic treatment years ago, but nothing seems to have come of it. Maybe a good place for them to make a debut in Cyborg's upcoming solo film, they've had comic book adventures with him after all. I can see them being very cool and fun, maybe get some popular comedic actors to perform the voice and motion capture work, and create CGI characters around that.
Iron Man is just paying Tin back for helping to save hin in
STF #1611, and he first met the team in
STF #362...
The only way Metal Men can work in film is if Andy Serkis plays one of them and it is all motion-capture, like The Incredible Hulk, Planet of the Apes and Avatar. ;)
ReplyDeleteAwesome cover, love Alan Davis' art
Tin...the perfect Metal Man?! I think Mercury and Iron are going to have a lot of angry words to say on that subject. The latter, because he probably thinks Iron Man is a plagiarist; and the former, because he already considers _himself_ the perfect Metal Man!
ReplyDeleteP.S.---when doing covers featuring these guys, why _don't_ you let robots comment?
They do on #1750 and #194
ReplyDeletewhere's Gold??
ReplyDeleteRoss, I think Cary was making a joke about the Capcha "I am not a robot"
ReplyDeleteI would love to se the metal men show up on legends of tomorrow or supergirl flash is fine also but I feel the others would do them justice
ReplyDeleteAirDave: Maybe Andy could play all of the (male) Metal Men. Nah... that would turn it into a Serkis act. #BadPunNoCookie
ReplyDeleteJokes aside, I think Andy Serkis would probably do very well as either Gold or Iron. For Tin, I'd wonder if Charles Fleischer would be available; if not, maybe one could convince Rob Paulsen or Jess Harnell to do it even though they're used to working with just a mike. Kevin Michael Richardson would be perfect for Lead. Platinum... Rebecca Romijn, perhaps?
Ross: This is yet another really fun cover. I'd love to see how Tony's plan quickly goes south. (And there are some who'd say that Tin already is the most powerful Metal Man... though he wouldn't be among them.)
And I echo erguy's question: Where's Gold on here? Was he just absent from the original art for some reason?
I think he was dead when the story I got the image from came out. He got better.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous #1: precisely! :-D
ReplyDeleteHow about Magnus vs. Cylons, next?
ReplyDeleteGold is Helping Iron Man - he is the Red and GOLD Avenger. Gold is augmenting Tony's suit.
ReplyDelete@ GH: Good one!!!

Considering the general premise behind the new Batman story arc from DC, I have to wonder if Doc Magnus could've used Nth metal in constructing the Metal Men in the first place? It would certainly explain their molecular transfiguration abilities.
ReplyDeleteP.S.---Unlike the Metal Men, I'm _not_ a robot.
