It was cool to see Jonah Hex show up on
Justice League Action this week. The show has really grown on me, and I love the odd character combinations that they come up with for each episode. In addition to Hex, this week featured Batman, Cyborg and Space Cabby battling Kanjar Ro! I still wish the show was longer, but as long as they keep up these kind of offbeat team-ups, I'll keep watching.
Hex and Red Wolf first met in
STF #1641...
I think with the attention span of kids these days, the producers probably figure 15 minutes is a good length. I would like to see them at least air two segments to pad it to a half hour show. The second segment could be a solo adventure of a hero, maybe covering the character's secret origin.
ReplyDeleteWait. Jonah Hex teamed up with Space Cabby?
ReplyDeleteWhy did the Jonah Hex movie suck so hard? It was only 81 minutes long. They added unnecessary supernatural garbage with Jonah talking to the dead. The character was basically based on old Clint Eastwood westerns so all they had to do was draw inspiration from those movies. The Lone Ranger movie also made unnecessary changes from the source material. The True Grit remake showed that there is an audience for westerns. Also, Hollywood needs to learn to be faithful to the source material if they want to appeal to fans or the result will be junk like the recent Fantastic Four and Ghostbusters remakes.
ReplyDeleteThis month's Jonah Hex/Yosemite Sam comic worked surprisingly well, though, in my opinion.
ReplyDelete@LK: the changes were probably deemed "necessary" by the studio heads for attracting the under-19 crowd. They must think the latter won't spend money on a superhero movie where the hero doesn't have super-powers.
ReplyDeleteIf true, someone should remind those jaded youngsters about the Dark Knight trilogy with Chris Bale!
Frankly Batman has superpowers with all of the things he can do and devices he has. Iron Man is Batman without the single minded focus.
ReplyDeleteI'll go you one further, Glenn. I would venture to say that Batman's single-minded focus _is_ his super-power! One that all his more physically powerful foes always underestimate.
ReplyDeleteAlways glad to see two of my favorite characters! Jonah is always good and will of course be the focus of most comments. But I really like Red Wolf. The western character used in modern times when he first appeared in Avengers is my favorite version. Would love to see him team up with the Lone Ranger!!!
ReplyDeleteHas Jonah ever met Two-Face?
