Justice League of America and Sub-Mariner

I've been getting a real kick out of Justice League Action.  I like the character design and how the writers dig deep into DC's long history.  I do wish that the episodes were longer than fifteen minutes each, though - they always seem to end just when i am really getting into the story.

Aquaman and Namor have a bit of history on the blog - They took different sides during wartime in  Issue #1105...

they faced the sea's wrath back in Issue #751...

and starred in my very first STF two-parter in Issue #3 and Issue #4.

  1. When I was a little kid in the Sixties, the seven-minute episodes of Aquaman and Justice League (produced by Filmation) were sufficiently action-packed for me. As to this issue? Knowing Namor, he'll probably insist that the third initial in JLA stand for "Atlantis."

  2. Justice League Action is awesome, especially how they have some of my JLA babies like Stargirl and Blue Beetle in the roster.

    The cover...

Stronger than a whale, he can swim anywhere!
He can breath underwater and go flying through the air!
The noble Submariner, Prince of the Deep...
    SO BE VERY WEARY, DEMONS
    *do do dun dun dundun*
For Namor of Atlantis is the Prince of the League...

  3. @Dashoo: I remember when they began syndicating those re-runs on WPIX 11 back in the Eighties. And I have to confess being a little disappointed in them. They looked more like Clutch Cargo episodes (minus the synchro-vox)!

  4. @Dashoo: with all due respect to my namesake? All Silver Age Firestorm would have to do is fire one molecular transmutation blast (aimed under Martin Stein's guidance) and Namor would be back to wearing that hydro-compensatory pants suit with the yellow glider-wing membranes.

  6. @Dashoo: no, I believe that's Silver Age Steve Austin you're thinking of. X-D

"We can make him better than he was. Better; stronger; faster; and more popular than DC and Marvel put together."

  7. LOL.

By the way, am I the only one who hates Blackest Night here?

  8. Sweet cover. Probably the best Namor one yet.

@Dashoo, no no you're not alone, but it had its moments. Now Brightest Day? That was entire series devoted to trolling fans they way they brought back guys then screwed said characters throughout the series.

  9. Dashoo and Dale, wouldn't it be ever better if the publishers should go back to having fully self contained stories, or at the most stories over 2-3 issues, instead of huge "events" across whole ranges?

  10. Or Crossover Storylines.

What really pissed me off about Blackest Night was the deaths of two of my favourite Teen Titans in it. One lost their face before, the other lost their family to Geoff Johns.
