Firestorm and Werewolf by Night (Part One)

Of all the classic movie monsters, I always liked The Werewolf the best.  Looking back, I am sure that my love of comics influenced that feeling - the transition from man to werewolf and back provided the extra element of a secret identity to the horror character.

As indicated above, this is only the first part of this offbeat team-up - make sure you come back tomorrow for the exciting conclusion!

  1. You're probably tired of hearing this, Ross (if only because such constant praise inevitably must sound like brown-nosing). But, you do impeccable research. In this case? The pose being struck by WWBN is highly reminiscent--to me, anyway-- of some equally dramatic cover art once done for Man-Wolf.

And, of course, one of Firestorm's earliest foes was the lycanthropic sister of Summer Day...alias the Hyena!

  2. Well, it was Hyena on the original Firy of Firestorm cover

  3. Would the shock ending be a nuclear blast like a miniature sun, which turns the werewolf back to normal as it is no longer night?

  4. I've been waiting for WBN forever! Will we ever see Simon Garth? Great cover, as always!

  5. I have used WBN before, most recently in a Legion of Monsters cover that also featured Simon Garth.

  6. This is indeed an offbeat crossover....

Personally, my favorite horror comic was Tomb of Dracula.

I was also always very partial to any crossover between Marvel or DC superheroes with either of my two favorite classic monsters, Dracula or Frankenstein's Monster.

Not long ago I suggested that a cover featuring a group made up of various comic book versions of Hercules would be fun. The same would be true (maybe even more so) of a group of various comic book versions of Frankenstein's monster including Dick Briefer's version from the 40s, the Dell superhero version from the 60s, Marvel's Monster of Frankenstein, DC's Spawn of Frankenstein and, of course, Hanna-Barbera's Frankenstein, Jr.

  7. As always, nicely done mash-up! Took me a moment to process the change from Hyena to Werewolf by Night on the cover! Love it!!

    Ross, always a joy...
