Cyborg Vs. Ultron

I really want the DC movies to succeed, but they seem to be impatient about bringing their characters to the big screen in some cases.  The JLA other than Wonder Woman really felt shoehorned into Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and having Cyborg as a founding member of the team feels rushed as well.  Now it seems that Black Adam will get a solo film, possibly before he appears in the already announced movie with Shazam.  Marvel seems to have had a lot more patience with the way they have rolled out their characters, and it has clearly worked well for them.

  1. Marvel has more attention to detail and how all of the individual pieces fit into a larger whole. Warner Bros./DC seem to just be making individual, stand-alone movies that have nothing to do with each other, except for the characters. Marvel's cinematic blueprint works. I see nothing wrong with stealing or borrowing a plan that works. DC's plan is to do the exact opposite so they're not seen as copying the competition. Except that the plan they've developed isn't really working. It's like Norman Osborne is secretly working for the Distinguished Competition...

  2. Trying to shoehorn Cyborg in as a founding member of the Justice League just doesn't work for me. I didn't really like it in the comics, and I don't understand why they went in that direction in the movies. Personally, I've never found Cyborg to be that compelling a character. It doesn't help that based on the images I've seen so far, I think the movie Cyborg looks awful....

If they wanted more diversity--which I understand--they could have gone with John Stewart/Green Lantern. I can understand them wanting to distance themselves from the Green Lantern movie, but the one good thing that movie did was establish that there was a Green Lantern Corps and not just one Green Lantern. Besides, everyone knows that they're going to introduce a Green Lantern into their cinematic universe eventually....

I also would have liked it if they went the way of the Justice League cartoon and introduced a Thanagarian Hawkwoman independent of Hawkman....

  3. As much as I love all of the New Teen Titans, I too never liked the launch of the New 52 JLA with Cyborg as a founder.

  4. Considering that the teen sidekicks have yet to be introduced, having Cyborg as already a twenty-something might be a good way to get around his direct induction as a JLA founder.

  5. What happened to Vic here? His feet, forearms and fingers are HUGE! And is he wearing some sort of utility belt now? What's with those tubes around his waist? Please don't tell me they hold batarangs.

  6. I agree with most if not all of these comments.

In particular, I'd like to see Green Lantern John Stewart join the JLA. It'd be a way to acknowledge the GL film without giving it too much attention, sort of how Marvel did with the Hulk. Plus, it would allow for Guy Gardner and/or Kyle Raynor later on (Guy especially if Blue Beetle & Booster Gold become a part of things).

As to Cyborg, wasn't he also a founding JLA member on Smallville? (I only watched the first few seasons, before any other superheroes showed up, so I might have misunderstood.)

  7. @ Doc OTR: maybe Vic salvaged some spare parts from Rog 2000.

  8. Like you, Ross, I too want the DCEU succeed as well plus I also consider Cyborg a Teen Titan than a Justice Leaguer because to be honest, it doesn't really work well, hence I agree with Martin and Minezzy Bee. There are indeed problems revolving around the DCEU that it needs to be fixed. I too agree with most of these comments as well like those from AirDave, Sonofjack Well and Bob.

  9. I grew up watching Cyborg on the last season or two of Super-Friends. So, I don't mind him being a Justice Leaguer, as much.
