We have seen Infinity Gems in
Captain America: The First Avenger (cosmic cube/tesseract)
The Avengers (Loki's staff),
Thor: The Dark World (The Aether),
Guardians of the Galaxy (Power Stone) and
Avengers: Age of Ultron (Vision's forehead gem). I't's sounding like
Doctor Strange will feature the final gem in the form of the Ey of Agamotto. All the pieces will be in place then for Thanos to finally complete the Infinity Gauntlet. It's going to be a blast to see what kind of havoc he wreaks with it!
The Titans have
history with Thanos on the blog...
Actually the Vision's forehead stone came from Loki's staff. Two stones remain.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately if the Marvel Universe of heroes had a twelve round fight with Thanos this one would be a knockout in the first twenty seconds of Round 1 !
ReplyDeleteNo contest .....Winner THANOS !!!
Ross, I like your conclusion about the soul gems - and we'll have to see how Dr. Strange is actually treated in the movie - but I'm not sure he'd fit into the big Avengers movie. He may be far more powerful than any of the Avengers or the Guardians.
ReplyDeleteI sure would like to see your treatment of the Avengers vs the Defenders on a cover. That is, John Steed and Mrs. Peel vs. Lawrence and Kenneth Preston. Hilarity ensues!
Ah, you're right, I double counted!
ReplyDeleteI love this cover, Ross. It reminds me so much of those early days of the Wolfman-Perez Teen Titans. What a great time to be reading comics! Both Marvel and DC seemed to be at the top of their games in the early 80s....
ReplyDeletePersonally, I'd love to see a big screen adaptation of the now-classic Avengers/Defenders War. With the two of them pitted against each other by Loki and Dormammu! All for the purpose of obtaining the Evil Ey of Avalon.*
ReplyDelete*Oh, dear! Did I forget the second "e?" Whatever could have influenced me to do that? ;-)
I rather like ELS' idea of Avengers and Defenders; maybe it could be a humorous story parodying the Marvel Avengers/Defenders War that Cary cited.
ReplyDeleteAs for Doctor Strange, whatever is done with the Eye of Agomotto, I'm sure it'll be a real gem. #BadPunNoCookie
PS: Given Thanos' remark here, I think a follow-up should feature him versus the Inferior Five.
ReplyDelete@ Bob Greenwade: in the words of a now-defunct beer commercial?
ReplyDeleteBRILLIANT!!!
Even better? Such a thing would mark the Inferior Five's debut, here!*
ReplyDelete*Yes, Ross, I checked first. There's no mention of them, at all, anywhere between the listings for "Indiana Jones" and "Infinity."
Cary, check "THE Inferior Five"
ReplyDelete@ Ross: Eighteen months since you last used them? That's even worse! They're _overdue_ for a reappearance.
ReplyDeleteI've wondered a few times why you sometimes index characters/groups under T for "the". It can be confusing, as shown by frequent commenter Cary!
ReplyDeleteYou have to understand, I only thought this blog would last a few months when I started labelling, so I didn't pay that much attention to it, I never realized I would still be making new covers over six year later!
ReplyDeleteJust had an idea Ross. Thanos vs Saturn Girl. They're both from Titan so, why not?
