It has been announced that Joe Manganiello has been tapped to play Deathstroke in Ben Affleck's upcoming solo Batman film, and may appear in Justice League before that. I think he is a great choice for the role but I must say I am surprised that the Slade Wilson will be used for those films as I have always considered him a New Teen Titans villain first and foremost. I guess they didn't want to wait that long to use him. Oh well, there's still the Teen Titans: The Judas Contract animated film to look forward to.
I suspect DC wants to bank on the common opinion that Deadpool was a copy of Deathstroke, so fans of one will want to see the other.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering how many movie-goers would think that Deathstroke was a copy of Deadpool since he reached the big screen first--sort of the way some critics accused John Carter of ripping off Avatar....
ReplyDeleteI too consider Deathstroke as a Teen Titans foe than a Batman foe but I am doing a wait and see optimism, same reason with seeing Mister Sinister appearing in Wolverine III, even though he's more of a foe to Cyclops than to Wolverine. Then again, I don't mind change on several superhero films and there are some changes that I don't think were good ideas at all.
ReplyDeleteDeathstroke has always been one of my favorite characters. If anyone could come up with a way to take down the Hulk, it's Slade.
ReplyDeleteI'm curious to see how he's portrayed in DCEU. I wasn't crazy about his characterization on Arrow. Let's hope they do better on the big screen.

ReplyDeleteRIP, Slade.
