Thanks to
Patron of this Blog Tom Zilla for this team up suggestion, one I was surprised I had not done yet...
One of the things that I am looking forward to for the upcoming season of
Arrow is the inclusion of the Adrian Chase Vigilante. Josh Segarra is taking on the role of what is being described as a new series regular. I remember really loving his story arc in
New Teen Titans as well as his self titled series and it will be great to see him in live action. Hope he keeps the ski mask!
I remember when i didnt live near a comic specialty shop, and therefore could not get a hold of a Vigilante comic (or Infinite Inc.) This was truly a bummer for me until i discovered my first comic shop in the Short Hills Mall (New Jersey) while visiting my cousin!
ReplyDeleteI kinda miss Greg Sanders. I'm glad you've used him a few times. The new Vigilante, while having the same name, is NOT a legacy character and has never referred to the original (as far as I know.)
ReplyDeleteOf course, if you really want a challenge - you could do a new Seven Soldiers of Victory with legacy characters.
I, too, am surprised that you hadn't done this team-up before; it does seem like quite a natural. And this cover is pretty well done, too.
ReplyDeleteAt least you didn't use the title "Chasing Chase!"
PS: Punisher vs. Ambush Bug.
ReplyDeleteIf memory serves, Adrian Chase's outfit was lifted--ahem! I mean, inspired--by a nearly identical costume that debuted in JOHN TARGITT: MAN-STALKER #4. One of those ill-fated Atlas Comics published by Stan Lee's brother Larry in the mid-late 1970's.
ReplyDeleteYou misspelled Adrian on the cover.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't that just "a-drain" all sense of victory out of a person? ;-D
ReplyDeleteThe VIGILANTE comic had so much potential and started off good. It slowly lost focus due to poor writing. I remember it ended on a very disappointing note. Maybe it's time for a proper re-launch of this character.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Wolfhammer. They should bring Adrian back from the dead...along with Katma Tui. Perhaps as a side-effect of the Golden Age Johnny Thunder having his genie-like Thunderbolt returning the JSA to the mainstream DCU!*
ReplyDelete*For example: Adrian standing side-by-side with Greg Saunders, the Golden Age Vigilante, and Katma likewise alongside the Golden Age GL.

ReplyDeleteAnother one I'm surprised Ross hasn't done yet is Darkseid and Darth Vader (or possibly Yoda... "the Darkseid, fight you must")
Luke, come over to the Darkseid...
DeleteOr the Guardians of the Galaxy vs. Darkseid's New Gods.
ReplyDeleteYou could call it "Four Horsemen of Apokolips."

DC's already used that name, for a group of older Apokoliptan deities who were revived into new bodies on Earth during the '52' limited series.
Adrian Chase began good, but that whole 'transformation' basically into a Punisher clone, including the death of his wife and kids, was beyond uninspiring to me and my brother.
ReplyDeletePunisher was just done better by not having us see that wife and those kids for several issues, which made Vig's story lousy, but I remember how the 'explosion' killed the wife and kids, but left Chase's straight blonde hair completely intact and not a scar on his face.
I never bothered with a Vigilante story of any kind after that.
@Simreeve: well, if they can bring back the original JSA, they can ret-con that quartet for the post-NEW 52 multiverse.
