I thought that it might be interesting to do a team consisting of heroes that use darkness as part of their method of operation. This is a group that I did not have any trouble coming up with a roster for. It's one of those traits that a lot of characters share, and I am sure that the artistic opportunities it provides is one of the reasons.
But no Dr Midnite? Just joking, another great cover.
ReplyDeleteSeveral years ago, I wrote a story that involved all of the wielders of the Dark Force. It was for myself, I never published it. But this awesome picture reminded me of it. I wonder if I still have it somewhere.
ReplyDeleteThis is a fascinating team. A story with them would necessarily be a bit dark in tone, though it might be interesting to see how Shadow Lass' and Cloak's personalities mesh. Hopefully we'll see more of them in the future.
ReplyDeleteMaybe a light-based team in the future, fronted by Photon and the Japanese Doctor Light? (Maybe with the Tangent Universe version of the Flash?)
Random thought: what if some of the ongoing stories you've featured here were to start to flow together, as things approach #2000? It could start out small, like Captain America and Wonder Woman double-dating with Power Man and Power Girl, and eventually branch out as Robo-Force encounters Iron Beetle.
"Who knows what fellow crime-fighters use darkness to fight darkness? The Shadow knows! Bwa-Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha!"
ReplyDeleteI have more plans for Robo Force, The Power Couple and WW/Cap, and an idea for 2000 should I get there... Iron Beetle was never meant as more than a one-off concept, I'm surprised folks want to see more.
ReplyDeleteActually, as far as I've been able to tell, I'm the only one clamoring for more Iron Beetle. But the concept did really grab hold of my imagination, and I'd absolutely love to see more of that kind of thing!

ReplyDeleteWhat? No Nightshade?
When it comes to this group, if the hero isn't dark, they just don't matter!
I'm not quite as anxious as Bob Greenwade. I'll settle for a 1550th issue featuring a team-up between Capt. America and Wonder Woman and their AC counterparts: Capt. Paragon and Ms. Victory!*
ReplyDelete*Maybe even versus the Black Commando and Rad, as manipulated by the Grandmaster and the Black Shroud.
Inspired by bob g's first comment, Ross, how about a cover with the Flash, (Dr.) Light, and (the Human) Torch?
ReplyDeleteRaven couldn't make this team because Cloak was there, right? (See May 15 cover)
ReplyDeleteNice idea for a team up! Have you ever done one with load of ice themed heroes and villains?
ReplyDeleteLight and Ice based teams are both good ideas - like this one, there's plenty to fill the rosters.
ReplyDeleteNice call with the STF continuity, Mindful Webworker!
ReplyDeleteThere's not a crook in his right mind that wouldn't make like David Bowie and run from these Shadows. :-)
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of AC, though, why isn't Nightveil part of this group?
Derek, there was this one https://braveandboldlost.blogspot.co.id/search/label/Frozone?m=0 and this one https://braveandboldlost.blogspot.co.id/2016/05/iceman-vs-captain-cold.html?m=0
ReplyDeleteAn ice-based team would, if you'll pardon the pun, be really cool. You could start out with Iceman, Polar Boy, and Frozone.
ReplyDeleteNight Girl from the Legion of Substitute Heroes would fit in here as well.
ReplyDeleteThe Just Ice League!

One of my absolute favourites so far. This begs for follow-ups.
