Black Panther and Tarzan in "Stampede!"

The Legend of Tarzan trailer is out, and I like much of what I see so far.  The computer generated animals look pretty impressive for the most part and it seems that the story will stick close to the source material, which it should.  The cast that has been assembled is very capable, so if the writing is quality, it may finally be the live action Tarzan flick that I have been hoping to see one day.

Tarzan and T'Challa crossed paths once before in an early STF cover...

  1. Does that rhino gave heat vision or did the artist forget to use red eye reduction?

Hey, red's supposed to me mean pissed/rage right? Like with bulls?;)

Cool pairing though Ross. I wonder what BP would honestly think about a white guy calling himself the king of the jungle while he's around?
After all we all know, as resourceful as he is, Tarzan's in way, shape or form able to hang with T'Challa at all.

  3. Unlike Corn, I do think that these two are a fairly natural pairing -- though I'd also love to see what things would be like if you were to add the Phantom to the mix.

  4. Anyone who thinks that Tarzan can't hang with the Black Panther is is SERIOUSLY underestimating Tarzan....

Ross, I wonder if you would consider teaming up Disney's version of Tarzan with Disney's Mowgli of The Jungle Book (which is also the subject of a new movie by the way.)

  5. Me? I think the red pigmentation is supposed to indicate mind-control. Either psionic (a la the Puppet Master and Mesmero); ultra-sonic (a la Crossfire); biochemical (a la Killgrave and the Corruptor); or neuro-cybernetic (a la the Controller). In any case; this was a great action-packed rendering. So much so, in fact, that I can easily imagine Tarzan shouting "Bundolo, Buto" (provided, he was the only one in the picture)!*

*I'm assuming T'challa would be more altruistic than pragmatic; wanting the rhino subdued non-fatally. "Bundolo Buto" being roughly mangani for "Die, rhino."
