Nightwing and The Fantastic Four

Now that plans for the Titans TV series have been scrapped, I am curious as to where Dck Grayson will eventually show up in DC's movie plans.  I am assuming that Jason Todd is the "dead Robin" of Superman v Batman: Dawn of Justice, and indeed there are rumors that a Ben Affleck-directed Batman film would revolve around the Red Hood saga, so there is potential for Nightwing to show up there.  Then there are the rumors of the Cyborg movie being changed to a full Titans film, which is another natural place for Grayson to appear.  Maybe the question is where he will appear first.

  1. Wow! Now this is an awesome cover! The Batman Family and Marvel's First Family! Awesome!

The DC Cinematic Universe plans just make me sad...I'd rather stick with the comics than see the characters in live action.

  2. heh....have to admit I was never a fan of the "first" version of Nightwing's costume, when it appeared in the last chapter of the Terra saga, but I really loved later versions, especially when he got his own book in 1996. Those were halcyon days when I BRIEFLY returned to buying comics after abandoning them in early 1990s. But by 1999, I had quit mainstream books for good again (titles were becoming complete crap) and only brought the occasional independently published graphic novel, usually from Europe.

  3. I reluctantly have to agree with you, El. One of the very, very, VERY few things DC has going for them, these days, is their relative punctuality of distribution. Indie comics might have better quality stories. But, keeping up with every single issue of special limited series can be--and has proven--spotty, at best. A prime example? The fifth anniversary of WAR OF THE INDEPENDENTS #3...with #4 still nowhere in sight.

  4. Yeah, I love George Perez's artwork, but his costume design sense leaves me cold. Except for Raven, just about every costume he's come up with (that I can recall) has been way over-accessorized. Nightwing's wasn't as bad as some, but that collar, the yellow feathering, and the light blue outline around the abs don't really work.

  5. Comic book publishers seem to have a habit of making characters change costumes, and DC in particular reinventing the same character. Ross, this might be tricky, but could you use the classic JLA cover of the Fantastic Fingers of Felix Faust (jla10) with, for example, different versions of Robin/Nightwing on one hand and Flashes or Green Lanterns on the other?

"Comic book publishers seem to have a habit of making characters change costumes,"

    1. Change a popular character's costume.
    2. Add a new action figure, showing the new costume, to their range.
    3. Profit.

(Also, it's a way in which a new artist on the title can make their mark.)
