Spider-Man and James Bond

Marvel has said that there will be no new Spider-Man origin tale when the character in introduced to the MCU in Captain America: Civil War and his own solo movie, to avoid unnecessary repetition.  Still, they have also maintained that he will be high-school based, so that means that there will still be parallels to the earlier films, at least as far as cast of characters goes.  Will Gwen or MJ be the love interest this time around?  Or will Marvel introduce them simultaneously perhaps?

  1. Not your best cover, I'm afraid. The characters don't appear to be properly interacting Spidey's thought balloons just seem ridiculous rather than exciting…

    Better luck next time...

  2. It's supposed to be ridiculous.

  3. Well, you managed to capture Sean Connery's "Thunderball" look pretty convincingly. And I can picture MJ being portrayed by a red-headed Sandahl Bergman (from the original "Conan The Barbarian").

As for the next Spidey movie? I'm hoping they introduce Molten Man as the next baddie. If only so we could have a refreshing change of pace with a Pete Parker/Liz Allen relationshipper.

  4. That's a Robert McGinnis Connery

  6. Oh Peter! Don't worry. MJ is cut from a different cloth than Bond Girls. As soon as 007 puts his hand on MJ's midrift to pull her into one of his 'hypnotic kisses' She will ram an elbow in his ribs, stomp on his foot and mace him in the eyes.

MJ is neither helpless damsel, nor bad kitty needing a dominant man.

Suave and sophisticated she may find attractive, taking liberties? Instant deal killer.

"Mr. Bond You need to learn how a GENTLEMAN behaves. Take me home Spidey?"

  7. Exactly what Mr.Harkness just said.

I'd add there could and should be a sequel of sorts to this team-up. After all who's to say 007 or his predecessor didn't run into Peter's spy parents back in the day? Just a thought.....

  8. If they really wanted to go a different route for the high school age Spidey the love interest could be Betty Brant. :)

  9. I was going to suggest Betty Brant as well....

As for Mark's comment: "Not your best cover, I'm afraid," perhaps you could show us YOUR version of this team-up cover.... What's that? You say you don't have your own version? Hmmmmmmmmm. In that case, if you can't say something nice....

I, for one, am grateful for ALL your efforts, Ross. Thank you.

  10. I agree with Anonymous, Harkness, and Dale. Sandahl Bergman is an especially apt analogy, as she would've been perfect as MJ had Hollywood done a Spidey feature film back in the Eighties! But, of course, nowadays, she'd have to play a different role. Perhaps the high-tech jewel thief, Commanda.

  11. So no constructive criticism is allowed here, Sonofjack? I have to make and show my own covers in order to express an opinion about one on this site?

I stand by my original comment that this is not one of the best. The characters look too misplaced. This is the exception, as Ross normally delivers...

  12. I repeat, "If you can't say something nice...."

  13. Sonofjack is right, Mark. Honesty may be the best policy. But, bluntness is not always the best kind of honesty. Which makes your brand of "constructive criticism" oxymoronic.

    Emphasis on the "moronic."

  14. So the name-calling ensures that I won't be back here again...

  15. I guess that rests everyone else's case.
