Deathlok and Jonah Hex

This cover comes from discussion in the comments section for this blog.  Michael Jones came up with this pairing, and Susan Hillwig suggested the use of this particular Hex image.  What can I say, when they're right, they're right - it would be a fun story!  Thanks, Michael and Susan!

  1. Defintiely your creepiest cover, yet. Suitably creepy, of course!

Two thumbs up for both you and the original brain-parents.

  2. Not bad! How about Spidey meets She-Cat (and/or the rest of Femforce)? Or, maybe, even the Avengers meet the Avengers?*

*I can just picture Cap's shield being cricket-batted away by John Steed's umbrella. ;-)

    1. I've been wondering about the Avengers too...
John Steed's umbrella vs. the Penguin's umbrella.
Emma Peel's costumes compared to Catwoman or Diana Prince in her de-powered "mod" phase (I don't know which were depicted in the comic book version of the Avengers)

  3. Ironic considering it was announced today Jonah Hex will be on the Legends of Tomorrow when the team travels to the Old West. The only time I read Jonah Hex growing up was the two times he guest starred in Justice League of America. When the series ended I followed the short lived Hex (which I remember the cover this scene came from) and hated when it ended. I understand it was not a popular series - a poor man's Mad Max I believe was what several reviews called it - but is was interesting. I did read the two Vertigo series that brought him back years later. Hollywood helped because Unforgiven was a hit at the time.

  6. The feature film version of Jonah Hex was more of a poor man's version of GHOST RIDER than UNFORGIVEN. Which is sort of ironic given how I will never forgive Hollywood for bastardizing the latter so badly and needlessly!

  7. Uhm, I take that to mean you think HEX was bastardized by being written like a rip-off cross between GR and UNFORGIVEN? But, without being as well-acted as either one of those films?

  8. Exactly! :-)

    Give yourself two thumbs-up.

  9. I think we will get a great Hex in LOT. Better than Deathlok in AOS.

  10. Yay, one of my suggestions made it. Great job!
How about Jonah Hex and the Scarlet Witch? And any other "Hex" connections you can think of.
