Adam Strange and Captain Marvel

Mar-Vell remains the one Marvel superhero that has been allowed to stay dead.  Indeed, the Death of Captain Marvel graphic novel made a huge impression on me, and I am glad that they have resisted a resurrection thus far.  Then again, Marvel's next big event which they are teasing is called "Dead No More", so who knows what they have in mind?

  1. Pretty cool. Marvel's Captain Marvel was one of those characters that was just ahead of my time. By the time I started reading and collecting super-hero comics, he had (spoiler alert!) died from cancer. I guess I should put The Death of Captain Marvel on my bucket reading list...

  2. I always like seeing your pairings of Adam Strange with other cosmic/space opera type characters!

  3. An ideal pairing, to be sure. But, which company is the lobster-clawed Godzilla from? Can't be one of Marvel's H'ssstah. They were sentient snakes...complete lack of limbs included!

  4. No worries. It seems Dead No More is a Spider-Man related event. GWEN STACY is my guess.

  5. Perfect, perfect match up with these two. I imagine their very similar in personality enough to be best bro's in no time.

I'm actually surprised Marvel hasn't officially resurrected him yet, even though it was teased back during Civil War, but at least they did Starlin and the fans right on this one. Plus, the fact that carol denvers IS captain marvel for them now means they don't really need to. But who knows, just like Gwen, Bucky, Aunt May, and Blink, no one stays dead for long.

  6. Another great cover. I've always loved Adam Strange's 1950's spaceman costume and don't think they should ever change its classic style. Speaking of which, I would love to see another pairing with these two with Mar-Vell wearing HIS original green and white classic 1950's space suit . . . .

Actually, the Hysstah (who fought Genis-Vell, btw) did have two arms. But, they were more like sloth-clawed tentacles. He was only lacking in the leg department.

Also, with Marvel updating their WHAT IF...? stories, every so often, I wouldn't be surprised if they eventually did one set during the "Civil War' story arc. And, featuring a clone of Mar-Vell!

  8. @Cary Comic
The Kree cloned Mar-vell during Avengers vs X-Men. The clone had his memories and knew he had cancer and was dying. In fact his last sentence was perhaps it was time someone else take up the mantle of Captain Marvel. It was cool that the Kree used his red and blue outfit pattern but it was colored in his classic green and white.

  9. Why not a captains cover, from Captains Marvel to Captain Carrot? A good challenge it one you've done before?
