Rumors have been swirling regarding the possible inclusion of Hippolyta and who will play her in the upcoming
Wonder Woman movie. Negotiations with Nicole Kidman seem to have fallen through, and now Robin Wright is being associated with the role. I prefer Wright at an actress, so I am OK with this move (assuming the part is for Diana's mother, rather than Circe or another character). Still, there's a part of me that would love to see Lynda Carter in the role - she is still gorgeous, decades after she originally played the Amazonian princess.
As a diehard fan of House of Cards (the first 2 seasons, NOT the third) I am tickled pink at the possibility of seeing Robin Wright again! She is PERFECT. Not a Kidman fan, she's overrated. Too bad Marvel has snagged Tilda Swinton, but I would love to see a warrior Jessica Chastain, Hillary Swank and you betcha, Charlize Theron. All these actresses were born to play Amazons or Demi-Gods!
ReplyDeleteMy wish has come true regarding the Wonder Woman movie, as the people behind 300 and Clash of the Titans are working on it. And YES, I want this Wonder Woman interpretation to be DARK! These comic fanboys griping about "too much realism" are truly annoying.
ReplyDeleteFor a moment I had hoped that the Valkyrie was the zone from Airboy...
ReplyDeleteOne, not zone.
DeleteMaybe they could get ex-TBBA star Roma Downey to play Hippolyta. She did a pretty good job in that role in the TV pilot for "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys!"
ReplyDeleteSeriously, though: I love this cover! The Valkyrie's word balloon is an obvious allusion to the fact that the Golden Age Hippolyta was drawn as a raven-haired brunette (just like her daughter). While her Silver Age counterpart was drawn as a blonde!
ReplyDeleteTo my above namesake: Annoying we may be. But, that doesn't mean were 100% wrong. Now I, for one, am not talking about a total reversion to 1960's-style campiness (a la the classic "Batman" series). That would be over-compensating! That being said, however, a little less Marvel-style angst wouldn't be so bad. Nuff said.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, all!
Great cover, and premise - wish it was a real story - I would love to read this!
ReplyDeleteMe, too, Blakeney. Me, too! :-D
