It's going to be cool to see Hawkman and Hawkgirl in regular action once DC's
Legends of Tomorrow gets started. I
like that they are exploring the reincarnation aspects of the characters, as that presents a lot of story possibilities. The costumes look pretty good as well, although I agree with many that Hawkman's helmet needs tweaking. By mirroring Hawkgirl's helmet he looks more like Wolverine than the winged warrior.
Wonderful cover as usual Ross. Any chance we could get either a Birdman/Blue Falcon teamup, or a team of bird characters gathering to defeat the evil machinations of Owlman and The Vulture? Both would be a real treat.
ReplyDeleteAs a funny side note, when Warner Brothers released the Filmation "guest star" videos from "The New Adventures of Superman", "The Superman/Aquaman Hour of Adventure", and "The Batman-Superman Hour", those included Atom, Flash, Green Lantern, Hawkman, the Justice League of America, and the Teen Titans.*
ReplyDeleteBut the box itself, while showing most of the heroes; it was RELEASED with Birdman instead of Hawkman. Because why bother with production values on such a cheap item, I guess.
*Of course, Superman, Superboy, Aquaman and Aqualad, and Batman and Robin were in these series - but they were released under their own cover.
I keep hoping that they will explore some of the Hanna-Barbera superheroes in Scooby Doo Team-Up such as Birdman, Blue Falcon, Frankenstein, Jr. etc. It would be even better if they would include some three-way team-ups between DC and HB superheroes along with the Scooby gang....
ReplyDeleteI'm surprise you never teamed these two up, before. They're a natural!
ReplyDeleteHow about another team up with the Dark Knight? You could have Batman and Birdman team up against F.E.A.R. and their new leader.
The Scarecrow!!
There's Batman/Birdman cover on here already, just click on the Birdman label.
ReplyDeleteI did. Hence, my reference to a second team-up.
ReplyDeleteSuperman and Batman showed up in so many Hanna Barberra cartoons, I really thought they were a division of Warner Bros/DC. Which is why i always wondered why Birdman or Blue Falcon never showed up on Superfriends or Batman and Robin Hour. Frankly i much preferred Birdman to Hawkman.
ReplyDeleteIt's insane that DC has access to all these great HB characters and is doing NOTHING with them . . . .
ReplyDeleteso there was an actual "Birdman" in the comics? not surprised.
ReplyDeleteSonofjack Well said...

Well, not absolutely nothing: Secret Squirrel co-starred in one issue of the 'Scooby-Doo Team-Up' comic...
Yeah, now that DC has a Multiverse again (or at least they did last time I read), they could give a numbered Earth to the HB heroes--maybe with the "Super Friends" versions of DC's own heroes as well.
ReplyDeleteThey could make that a kid-friendly line of comics, like their "Adventures" comics from a few years back. Sure, I liked some of the "adult-level" comics, but I was an adult when I was reading them. If comic companies don't aim some comics at the kids, where will they get future readers?
Now you can do a block-buster 5 winged-superhero cover with Birdman, Hawkman, Nighthawk, and Angel...then throw in Falcon, as well, as a peacemaker.
