The Gargoyle is one of those Marvel characters that I always hoped would gain more popularity and wider recognition. I love the design of his look and like that he is not your typical 20-something aged hero - his advanced age gives him a unique perspective. I haven't seen him getting much use lately and hope he can find a new home in comics again.
'Cept for the wings Gargoyle looks and awful lot like Etrigan, The Demon...
ReplyDeletePretty cool combination.
Well, now that Marvel is a member of the Disney corporate family, maybe Isaac can get adopted by Goliath's clan.
ReplyDeleteJack Kirby based Etrigan's face on a demon mask from Hal Foster's Prince Valiant comic strip. The Gargoyle was probably inspired by the same strip.
ReplyDeleteNow that'd be one... heck... of a team-up: The Demon, the Gargoyle, and Prince Valiant!
This needs to lead into a Swamp Thing/Defenders team-up
ReplyDeleteI loved the early 1980s Defenders run, with Gargoyle and Valkyerie. I always considered The Defenders a DC comics team that somehow ended up in the Marvel Universe.
ReplyDeleteAny chance of seeing the Gargoyle meet Disney's Gargoyles?
ReplyDelete100 percent if you check the archives.
ReplyDeleteWhat's with that monkey playing a mandolin...?
ReplyDeleteHell is a weird place.

Ha! I was a big fan of this era of Defenders too, and I was in the minority (at least where I grew up) of those that generally preferred DC to Marvel. Never thought of it that way before, but it make sense.
