I always thought that Pat Dugan was a cool character, and was glad that Geoff Johns brought him back to the DCU with his
Stars and S.T.R.I.P.E. series. Lately, DC has had a bad record with its red-headed male characters though - they seem to be either forgotten, killed off, or changed into a non-redhead. What's with the anti-ginger stance, DC?
That... is a brilliant idea.
ReplyDeleteRe: the ginger problem -- It may help if the producers of Doctor Who can get around to putting a ginger in the title role.
ReplyDeleteRe: this cover -- It's good to see the "star-spangled sidekicks" in action together. This sort of thing is tough for you to pull off, I think, largely because Marvel's never been real big on the whole "superhero sidekick" thing, aside from Bucky.
Question: There's something odd here about Stripesy's left hand. Is it a "printing" problem?
ReplyDeleteI think it's called JimmyOlsen-phobia, Ross. Prior to COIE, that red-headed character peaked in popularity with his "Mr. Action" adventures. Since, then, however? Well, let's just say that the only difference between the modern version and the Silver Age version is the lack of a green suit and black bow tie.
On a lighter note: how about Spidey and Thunderbunny vs. the White Rabbit?
Which 'White Rabbit' did you have in mind? Marvel has had at least two, and DC at least one, or maybe vice versa... and then there's the Disney version, and...
ReplyDeleteI agree that it's nice to see Stripesey in action again.
Bob, his hand is in shadow, that's all.
ReplyDeleteNice to see some Stripesy love!
ReplyDelete@Simreeve: the foxy redhead who dresses up like a Playboy version of Disney's White Rabbit. She was originally introduced in the original Marvel Team-Up (of the 1970's).
